scotland v moldova.....foxsportsworld........10ahem EST. the 4th..
hubert
Yes I found out half an hour ago, I get to see it at 7am my time.
Dont know whether to laugh or greet, jist kiddin, it will be interesting.
The under 21s have not scored in their last four games, they tied 0-0 against Moldova Friday.
jimmyd
Well there you go Hubert ,regardless of how we win,it is still nice to be there !!!! biggrin.gif
hubert
Jimmy I will take a win over a loss anyday, but that was disgraceful, Scotland 2 Moldova 0.
If you win say little they say, and if you lose say less.
Well I will say little, the young goalie although not challenged much was no bad, midfield lacked ideas and the long ball was poorly executed, Fletcher and Ferguson have some football skills over others on that park, but did not produce them, McFadden moves fairly well good left foot. rolleyes.gif
jimmyd
Never saw the game Hubert, only the result on Sky Sport on line ,as I said ,as long as they win,I will take the result. biggrin.gif
linzeh
a bit harsh.Hubert......not the full 11........walter still findin' his way...

the worst though were the scores from the other 2 games in their section........

both draws.............italy/norway....belarus/slovenia

better for our chances if ltaly won...and belarus won......leaving us the chance to be second after our upcoming game against belarus.......

big question....."can we beat italy in sept. @ hampden"...the dutch would say yes..... wink.gif
hubert
I am not being harsh, I tell it like it is, Walter and his coaches are to congratulated with the win considering whats available at anytime.
You have to be joking when you say its not the full 11, Scotland dont have the players to have a full 11 at anytime, and the rest of what you type is unrealistic, beyond belief! LMAO rolleyes.gif
linzeh
as it stands i'm quite happy to be lookin' at the situation thru "purple coloured glasses".........

at least 6 of smith's choices are out due to injury....i ask any team to take out 6 of their squad and see what happens......the 6 include his 2 main strikers......

berti's legacy will be "he screwed us out of germany2006".....can smith, burns et al. (that would be super ally wub.gif ) get us there??

the odds are long indeed....but at least they will put on a show.
hubert
Scotland I believe are around 85th in world standings, if Smith improves on that to any extent then my hats off to him, even if we dont qualify, which is extremely unlikely, anyhoo. smile.gif
iancameron
your ranking of Scotland is correct Hubert, Moldova is 112, and Belarus are 63rd.Im afraid that Scotland will have to realy sharpen up if they want to continue in the competition. As you say a wins a win, but we looked tired at the half time mark and gave the ball away too easy
hubert
Thanks Ian, I get to see the Belarus game Wednesday at 1pm my time I believe, on TV.
carmella

Go Scotland Go!!!

Belarus, Belarus......
Yi better be feart oh us!
yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! biggrin.gif
linzeh
"o flower of scotland"..

4 pm est. tape delayed on fox sports world.........
iancameron
Well 0-0, what can I say, CRAP,that was about it. Our keeper got man of the match and he sure deserved it, but as a team you may have well put Pollok or Maybole on, they would have done better.
The worst game I have seen all season.
hubert
Two bad lots, nae goals, nae fitba! ohmy.gif
linzeh
okeh so a depleted squad doesn't give up a goal away from home

and that's the response they get........????

i would suggest..........MoN...big Eck.....sir alec......et al. (whoever al is)would say comin' away with a point against a better team on their park was not the end of the world.......r they not about 20 odd places better than us in world rankings??

we are not out of it...and based on the last 14 days of the scottish/english and CL. leagues this past season............one would have to say anything can happen.....
jimmyd
Have to agree with that Linzeh!!
linzeh
QUOTE (jimmyd @ 8th Jun 2005, 10:04 PM)
Have to agree with that Linzeh!!

good gawd man...av u been drinkin' the bad man's juice again??

u agreed with Linzeh.............

was that a pig i saw fly by..????????? biggrin.gif
hubert
In regards to your mention of rankings Linzeh I feel that Scotland will start getting better in that dept. which I will like, and acknowledge, after all 85th is not verygood, haha, your right Belarus are NOT 20 or so better than us, maybe they should be about 80th in the standings, LoL, and I am sure we will improve in the fitba aspect in performance provided we get more capable players available, but Scotland presently are a poor side and it looks bleak in regards to the near future.
I can only judge on what I see, not on some other coaches imagined perception. LMAO
Keep it up Linzeh, if nothing else your sure good for a laugh when it comes tae fitba! rolleyes.gif
linzeh
well like they say(whoever they r).........."he who laffs laffs".........

i just wonder..if the SFA. had to pay twice for the helicopter???...

Hubert......if j.d. is agreein' with me..surely(if i may call u shirley) i must be on to somethin'??????

or is just cause walter smith is the manager..?????? dry.gif

give walter smith his full 11 and then judge the team........i just don't think it's as bad as u do.....
Catherine
An then ah go an spoil it all an say somethin stupid like ah love you... laugh.gif

Aw cripes haud oan, ah wis makin a joke aboot Hubert's response!!!!
hubert
You wont change Linzeh, bringing up Walter Smith sums you up, last season you went AWOL till Rangers started to catch up with Celtic, very predictable, I will answer your Walter Smith comment go read my previous posts, if he gets Scotland higher in the rankings my hat is off to him, he doesnt have the talent available.
Also before the game Smith said what I said more or less, he wasnt concerned about not having some of the players that were not available, there is very little difference with what there is available at anytime with the Scotland squad ffs.
Linzeh lad your a joke, when it comes to fitba!
About the Shirley comment, could you please elaborate on that?
linzeh
a joke..????.........because i have more faith in my teams than u do..???.........

you've done nothin' but slag your team......and are now slaggin' the scotland team.........

who looks like the "joke" here..???.as for the walter smith comment.....may i suggest the "wee smilie" should let you know it was tongue in cheek....

as for."shirley".......Uhhmmmm......

Hubert..........since yer team went in the toilet you've done nothin' but complain........but your negativity is becoming a real drag man...

scoltands last 2 results will themselves alone raise our standings with FIFA.

home to italy..away to norway..home to belarus.......bring it on i say....
iancameron
Bit off topic but Iv heard that Chris Sutton to return to Blackburn Rovers, also Hartson leaving to Upton Pk. wink.gif

I want a better explanation of the Shirley comment, if its not in you to make that forthcoming, dont ever refer to me or my posts again. Hubert
linzeh
good gawd man................

what's to explain..???......ru that homophobic???????

"if jd. is agreein' with me...surely(if i may call u shirley) i must be on tae somethin"??

oops seems i made a typo.on the "shirley vis a vis surely"............

it's a figure of speach......for instance..........one mite say...

"surely you know what i'm talkin' about"??.....the response being...

"my name isn't surely"........ rolleyes.gif

there u go.......now u can skip along knowing i wasn't questioning your masculinity.......as i surely didn't call u jessie....

PEEPEL.....................R WE NOT GLASWEGIANS..???........KEEPERS OF THE DRIEST DARKEST HUMOUR IN THE WORLD???......

off topic i suppose........but it seems lately if u aren't politically correct there is no room on this board for u..........so me thinks this will be my last post.........

not a bad idea really they say go out on top(who ever they are).....and as i've finally managed to get jimmyD. to agree with me....That's about as on top as i'm ever gonna get...........

so from the "weeskunner of penilee"....................cheerio cheerio
jimmyd
Here noo !! had I known that your happiness depended on me agreeing with you Linzeh,I would surely have done so much sooner.Makes me feel proud to held in such high esteem . biggrin.gif
iancameron
Come on Linzeh, to be fair Hubert has taken an even handed approach to Rangers & Celtic, also the Scottish team. It would,nt make a damn of difference if King Billy or the Pope were managers of the Scottish side, we just dont have the quality of players coming through the system for us to compete with the big boys.
So you keep on posting Linzeh, I need all the support for next season.
( mind you its all done and dusted already, the Gers will walk it )
jimmyd
Och Ian I do like an optimist!! Aye C'mon Linzeh if you take yer baw ,we cannae hiv a game. biggrin.gif

hubert
Jackie McNamara signed for Wolves, a lot of unhappy Tic fans over that! dry.gif
iancameron
After 10 years good service to Celtic you would have thought they would have offered him more than a one year contract. I dont blame the bloke, hes 31 years of age and probably thought he would end his career with Celtic, and if Sutton and Hartson go I think yous are in the mire mate. wink.gif
carmella
I was reading about this today and I think it's very sad that Jackie is leaving, but at the end of the day for him, probably the right move.

It only remains now to see who will all form the Celtic side for next season and I wish we knew now, the suspense is awful.
hubert
If Hartson and Sutton stay I still think we are in the mire! LoL
Its no the suspense that kills me its the lack of it?
With our suits its the lack of expense! rolleyes.gif

Since I cant post twice in succession I will add to this.
Scotland have improved 2 places since Smith has taken over, more power to him.
We are now in 83rd spot.
jimmyd
Well I can't post in Old Firm ,so am in here .The first of Wee Gordies signings has been completed, Mo Camara ,can anyone throw some light on what sort of player he is.Some of you Anglo Scots might have an some info on him. wink.gif
iancameron

Don.t know too much about him, 29 year old left sided defender, think Strachin wanted him when he was managing Southaampton.

Camara was released by Burnley boss Steve Cotterill at the end of last season after they couldn’t agree terms, this after Camara said he really wanted to continue playing for Burnley.

His form certainly dipped again after it became clear he wasn’t going to sign a deal and it was also at that time that Ipswich made an offer for him. It came as no surprise to see him leave at the end of the season.

There had been talk about a move to Celtic and that finally became the case this evening after he passed his medical this afternoon and Strachan was delighted with his first signing saying, “He’s got pace, he’s got enthusiasm and he’s got experience now.

“Tom O’Neill watched him for a long time last season and Tom put a lot of positive ticks where the ticks were needed. I’ve seen him a few times and think we’ve come to an agreement that if we can sign someone of this quality on a Bosman, we have got to take it.”

Camara said, “The Celtic fans might be saying what is happening if we are signing players from clubs like Burnley. All I can tell them is they have got a hungry player desperate to show the fans and the manager how good he can be.”
jimmyd
Thanks for your prompt response Ian,Guess only time will tell eh!! biggrin.gif
hubert
Anyhoo I dont know why Camara is in this Scotland team topic thread, however, he is not a good player, and I doubt if he will improve?
Scotland were leading Austria 2-0 at halftime in a friendly, guess what Douglas is put into goal, and poor Scotland end up with a 2-2 draw.
England got clobbered by Denmark 4-1, and the reason I mention them is, Calamity James was their goalie another disaster! LoL
carmella
Well Hubert I must say, you're spot on when you mention "Calamity James" I couldn't agree more.

Tomorrow sees the Scotland -v- Italy game at Hampden - a good old Hampden Roar should set the Italianos alight - hope we pull off a good win.
hubert
I think a win is a tall order, however a draw would be great I think.
I will see the game its on telly! wink.gif
carmella
Scotland 1-1 Italy – but Italy only seemed to come into the game within the last half hour or so – the game was very much Scotlands.

We can be very proud of how this side played today. The game was fast moving and terrific entertainment – they did us proud and they did themselves proud – no doubt about it they played well enough to deserve a win over the Italian side!

Well done boys!
hubert
Well done Scotland, during the week they play Norway there, this is a must win, and will show their mettle if they do!
Scotland the brave, way to go! smile.gif
Isobel
They did it. biggrin.gif
hubert
Yes they did and they showed their mettle, well done Scotland, next game against Belarus, next month.
Norway1 Scotland 2. biggrin.gif
jimmyd
Saw a bit of it on TV tonight, what a transformation in a team ,have to hand it to Smiddy and Burns , they have instilled belief. Lets hope it continues.
iancameron
they are certainly getting something right, great game from everyone on the Scottish team. I anyone had said to me that Smith and Burns could last this long I would never had believed them.
jimmyd
I think it is a good move to have these two in charge Ian,does away with all the usual crap from the bigots , an Ex Gers and Tic manager, who the hell are they going to blame now LOL. biggrin.gif
hubert
Well Scotland were piss poor against Belarus, I saw the game on TV and tape later, our two central midfield defenders were terrible Pressley and Weir, and Walter had a player Murray that has been midfield for Rangers at the left back spot?
Also a player that blunders and as far as I could see he did on the Belarus goal, Christian Dailly, I have been saying for seasons he should NOT be in the Scotland squad, hell he struggles to get a game for his English club team.
Barry Ferguson was terrible, he is playing with an injury I believe, he sure needs some excuse, no a bad player for Rangers, but overated!
Hartley thats been playing well for Hearts was a passenger, then again who wasnt?
Oh well, at least I think we have a good goalie!
Woe is me! dry.gif
Walter Smith and Co. I think you have done no bad so far, considering the lack of talent, but I have dont think you will succed to any great degree with this lack of talent, doubt if anybody could?

I totally agree with you Hubert I watched the game as well.

England are in the world cup now but Scotland are not.

Talent is lacking - that's the root of our defeat.
hubert
Believe it or not, Scotland beat Slovenia away from home, 3-0 and were most certainly outplayed, but I will take it anyway I get it! rolleyes.gif
For me Scotland had only two worthy players, Fletcher and Gordon!
carmella
Sky news here are reporting it as Scotlands "sensational" win - well either way, that suits me., they won and that's what we wanted them to do.

I didn't see the game, so can't comment on how it was played, but am happy with the result.
