Heather
Well Jimmy one thing you will not be sorry to miss is the weather. It has not been a good summer and since the start of September it has not stopped raining the weather is terrible.

I was at the library last week and had the two g'daughters ( 3 & 6yrs old) with me, then went over to one of the supermarkets and the 6yrs old was skipping behind me. Got into the shop then discovered the 6yr old had vanished. Oh boy, did I panic, there I was pushing everyone at the checkout out of my way to get back out the shop, there was no sign of her. I was running up the Main St calling her name and she was no where to be found. I ran back to the supermarket dragging the 3yr old all the way. A young guy asked what was wrong and ran off to help. I just could not fathom out how she had vanished so quick. My mind was jumping every way especially with all the cars about especially in the car park and I was convinced someone had snatched her. By this time I was getting into a right old state. Then a young woman came along with Megan, she started crying I was crying and her wee sister was hugging her, and she was worried in case she was to get a row. I managed to thank the woman but I cannot remember thanking the young Guy.
I was sure I knew the young woman from somewhere and on Saturday I was in the Fruit & Veg shop and there she was serving, she usually works in the florist next door (both shop's owned by her parents). I asked her how she found Megan and she said, " she passed the flower shop and then came back down again and I thought she looked a bit young to be on her own and she looked upset, so I went out and asked her if she was ok and she said she had lost her Gran, so she walked up the Main St. with her then she saw me and that was that".
I still cannot work out how she got lost, but she said she went up to the ice cream shop and I did not go along that far. I think at that age they really don't pay much attention to where they are going, but it was a warning to me keep children in front where you can see them when they want to skip about.
So Betty if the drinks cupboard is empty, blame me. I think I finished off Jimmy's bootleg voddie as well, I really needed it to calm my nerves.

Catherine
Oh Heather ma worst nightmerr....that must have been awful for ye. Here huv anither wan pet.

We'd similar happen two years ago, Jacob had been at a wee pals oan the Saturday mornin, lovely spring day.
Ah saw the wee feet pass the basement windae at lunchtime, Geoff wis oot the back so ah continued whit ah wis doin.
Came upsterrs tae put lunch oot an Geoff came in .."Wherrs Jake?" ah asked.
"He's no back yet" said Geoff.
Ah said "he is".
Well five minutes intae shoutin oan him an runnin through the hoose it wis "Okay phone the polis".
Geoff wis a wee bit dubious but ah wis adamant.
We'd two sqaud cars six minutes later, wae a third wan tourin the neighbourhood.
By this time he wis found..HIDIN UNNER THE NEIGHBOURS DECK!

Wee soul had heard us shoutin and at first wis aw thrilled he'd found a great hidin spot, then he wis feart tae come oot incase he goat a row.
Later anither neighbour {right smart arse} said "well surely you called the cops too soon" wae yon smirk an raised eyebrows y'no.
Boy did ah miss him an hit the wa' NOT!!!
Might add the same man's weans are wan step short of makin an appointment tae see him, he's awfy busy wae golf an work an things y'no.

To clarify, we live in a neighbourhood wae eight different 'escape' routes...in a city of 2.5 million, and ahd much rather a wasted journey fae the Polis than a bigger nightmerr.
In fact Heather ah could go kick his butt aw ower again..ye'v goat me started hen laugh.gif

THRILLED it ended okay, Ah felt for ye there cos ah know pet.
Heather
Yes it's a terrible feeling Catherine and it does not matter what anyone else says, you have to follow your own instinct. If Megan had not appeared when she did I would have called the Police.
It's ok for the neighbour to make remarks about phoning the Police too soon but if it was his child what would he have done!!!!.

The irony is that at the same age her dad got lost on Blackpool beach and I was convinced he was drowned. Went to the Lost Children Van that sat on the prom but no luck. I was bawling my eyes out and asked them to phone my husband. They asked where he was and I told them he was in Germany with the HLI and if our son was drowned he would come back with his rifle and shoot me. laugh.gif He was lost for about an hour, he had wandered the wrong way along the beach. I think his daughter must have the same wanderlust.
wee mags
heater and catherine ,your tales made me think of my younger brother Thomas ,he was missing and we were all going crazy looking for him we had all the neighbours looking for him as well,as my mammy was ready tae drape deid a wee voice came from under the bed ,and said "is it time for dinner yet?" he had climbed into the wash basket with the stuff to be ironed and fell sound asleep.
Then when he was about six he went missing again, this time he made sure the polis picked him up,as we were looking for him,and they asked him where he lived and the wee bugger said he didnae know,in the meantime hes getting Fish and chips, and ice cream, and one of the police men said I know him hes wan o the Rolla,
when he got home he told my mammy he wanted tae get fish and chips and his pal told him "if you go tae the polis sation and forget where you live they give them to you and you dont hiv tae pay for it" needless tae say he wissnae allowed oot for a while biggrin.gif
Heather

Heather
Actually Jimmy, I went back into the Supermarket and bought a bottle of Lambrusco, that terrible wine I drink, but I do enjoy a wee vodka now and then. Thanks very much, I enjoyed that one. Cheers. laugh.gif
August26
Heather:
I hope you put a straw in the bottle and emptied it out, you certainly did deserve it, we have been dog sitting, the dog got out Tuesday, David left the gate open, I was in a panic, Tommy and David followed it to the tennis courts around the corner, the dog had them running all around then it ran into the fence, which stunned it and they were able to grab the collar. I can only imagine the relief you felt.

August
Catherine
Heather, ah mind the time ma pal wis ower, we wer gaun tae the dancin and had a bottle of Lambrusco.
Ye hud tae live wae ma gran tae understaun why we werr drinkin it in the bathroom whilst puttin oan the warpaint....well dis gran no come in tae catch the jen an spys the boattle.
