Sir Elton John has been drawn into a £700,000 legal battle after a top banker appeared to back out of generous donation pledge to his AIDS foundation.

Dubai based Spencer Lodge bought himself a ‘date’ with Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish at his glamorous White Tie and Tiara Ball.

But the date never happened because Mr Lodge - who at 5ft 4in is described as a pint-sized ladies' man - failed to stump up the money, it is claimed.

Now, after numerous requests asking father-of-two Lodge to honour his auction bid, Elton has issued a writ on behalf of the Elton John Aids Foundation. ...

The Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) was started in 1992 by Sir Elton John to fund with the mission to support innovative HIV prevention programs and eliminate stigma and discrimination associated with HIV and AIDS.

It has raised more than £139million in support of projects in 55 countries around the world.
