Monday 23rd September at 16:33

The Luther Blissett Stand is ready and primed and wants to hear the noise of the Partick Thistle Boys as we are coming down the road.

Partick Thistle fans are being invited to appear on the show on Saturday 26th October, the day before our game with Celtic, and we want you to tell us why you should be chosen to lead a Partick Thistle team of fans on national television.

We are giving two fans the opportunity to each travel with three friends, who also must be avid Thistle fans, to appear on the show and wear the red and yellow with pride.

So, by close of play on Thursday of this week, please e-mail us and state your case for making the team for this historic event! Send your e-mails to michael.max@ptfc.co.uk and the winners will be announced on Friday, best entries selected by Alan Archibald.

Disappointed to go out of the cup, but we were the better team in the first half according to some who were at the game and the radio reporter.

Yet another game where we failed to convert our chances, this is becoming a real problem for us and one Archie us going to have to sort out pronto or we will be looking over our shoulders to see where St.Mirren and Hearts are shortly.
Purplefan
we are going to have to put away our chances.
It's not like were not getting any,

As to tomorrow away at ST. Johnstone
going to be a tough nut to crack. Our midfield will be key in this one i think.
We have to be more creative.
1-0 win for Jags Penalty.

Me. I'm at
the F.A.cup 2nd round qualifier at Trafford.
Trafford FC Vs Altrincham. we had a 2-0 home win against Gloucester on Tuesday.
But this is a potential banana skin. They beat us in a pre season friendly.
Trafford play in the Evo stick North premier division; one league below us.

Local derby this one so should be good crowd.

check out this cracking goal by our MF Junior smikle on Tuesday night.

well its what was expected by two mid table teams. Cancled each other out.

On the Altrincham . We lost, We were shite the whole team.
Trafford were not that better. But the worst team lost 2-1.
Sorry, but our manager deserves a kick in the knackers for that.
Well donr Trafford.

Some photos of the day out.

Highlights of the match.

Rubbish penalty.
But at least we scored.
Purplefan
I still think Thistle are defending way too deep.

We had a good first half and should have scored at least twice.
On the whole pleased with the result. Point gained.
JAGZ1876
I thought Gallacher was at fault at their goal, but we had by far the better chances and are still squandering too many.

Read in the paper that before yesterdays game that we had only scored seven of 81 attempts in our first seven games, and adding the eleven we had yesterday show why we need to start putting at least some of them away if we want to enjoy the season without looking over our shoulders.
Dimairt
Proper football. Look at the crowd, the state of the pitch and enjoy Arthur Montford's commentary, two good teams, outstanding goalkeeping from Roughie and a great last-gasp equaliser from the Jags. (Ignore the usual sectarian crap from the Cel'ic fans)
Thanks to We Are Thistle for the link.

Great to see the game being played properly and not a diver in sight, nice to see the late Colin McAdam tussling with his brother Tom.

I was in the year below Alex O Hara at Grange Secondary in Castlemilk.

I wasn't at this match 09/02/80 but as they had thumped us 5-1 at Celtic Pk only two months before it was good to see the smiles wiped off their faces with the late goal, i was also smiling watching that clip when the Celtic fans were singing "We're gonnae win the league", little did they know that Fergie and the Dandy Dons were going to trump them.

I wish football could go back to those days of real men.

Purplefan
I agree jagz but it is a totally different game now.
I some how think a lot of them players would cope with the modern game.

I saw the Thistle match against st. Johnstone on sportscene.
I was quite impressed with thistle midfield.
Again we never took our chances and the defence needs to mark opposition players
more closely.
5 jags players in the box and none spotted the St.johnstone player who scored.

fair result.

what is a replica wall brick?

I did not want to post this on the rangers thread; as some fans get a bit touchy.
Are they that desperate for money?
50.00 to have your name on a brick! No thank you!

You have to give them top marks for effort, 50 quid a head multiplied by 40k pulls in 2 million smackers enough to keep them going for another two months at their present rate of spending

It would explain a lot of things.
Anyone who would pay 50.00 for a replica brick would be a P***k

I got a PM from GG member Ossie informing me of the sad news that he had been to the funeral of former Jags favourite John Flanagan today, i hadn't been aware of his passing.

http://ptfc.co.uk/news/2013-2014/september...3/john_flanagan

I had the pleasure of seeing John play in the late 60's, sad to hear another former Jag is no longer with us.

I have asked Ossie to pass on the deepest sympathies to Johns family from all GG Jags fans.

Purplefan
Sad news R.I.P John.
you brough joy and happiness to a lot of people who watched you play.
your legacy will live on at Firhill.
Thought and prayers with family and friends.

Weekends are boring when the Jags aren't playing.

PS who are Altringham playing today?
Purplefan
Guiseley. After last week poor performance i am expecting a world class
one today.
Not at the match. I'm working today till 8pm.
I'm at man city stadium on crowd controll at the metro station.
irrie
Chris and Colin Weir are helping the Jags set up a youth academy. Think this is great news for the club and young players.
Jupiter
It is a superb gesture Irrie, 3/4 million for youth academy. This couple are really top notch spreading the jam about for good causes.
Purplefan
Tonight's match against Hibernian.

Should separate the men form the boys and
show us if Thistle have what it takes to compete against the big teams.
Hibs have spent well, since their humiliating defeat against Malmo.
This will be a real test for the jags.
I will be listening in online.

Team news
from the manager.
“Nearly everyone is fit. Jordan McMillan won’t make it as he is still struggling with a thigh strain. Mark Kerr too is a doubt with a back injury and he didn’t train yesterday. Scott Fox though is fit and I think that his form before his injury means that he is still our first choice keeper and I think Paul Gallacher will understand that.”

result.
close 2-1 win for thistle.
Up the jags.
JAGZ1876
First of all, what a fantastic gesture from Chris and Colin Weir for their generous contribution to the youth academy, what a class act that they use their wealth to benefit others.

Maybe we will be turning out our own class youngsters in the near future like Dundee U are doing.

As for tonight's game let's hope we can get our first home win of the season, i know Hibs are poor at the moment but we shouldn't get overly confident, glad to have Fox back though.

I will settle for a scrappy 1-0.

C'mon the Jags thumbup.gif

is the game on the tranny tonight?
Purplefan
Team for tonight game.
Scott Fox, Stephen O'Donnell, Aaron Taylor-Sinclair, Sean Welsh, Aaron Muirhead, Conrad Balatoni, Stuart Bannigan, Kris Doolan, Steven Lawless, Isaac Osbourne, Kallum Higginbotham.

Subs: Paul Gallacher, James Craigen, Ross Forbes, Gabriel Piccolo, Christie Elliott, John Baird, Gary Fraser.

Thistle off to a good start. Couple of corners and a lot of play.
irrie
Another home game without a goal. How long is Archie gong to let it go on. He must find a penalty box player from somewhere or its going to turn from a decent start into a real struggle.
Purplefan
I think the problem is self belief in the players.
Early on they showed a bit of creativity, we need to capitilise on that.
JAGZ1876
Partick Th 0 V 1 Hibs

Another game thrown away because we cannot take even a couple of the many chances we had before being hit by a sucker punch.

We are now in danger of being dragged into the relegation zone because of a lack of a natural striker, at one stage we had Doolan, Higginbotham, Baird and Elliott on the pitch at the same time and still could't score, and as for Doolan's one on one with the Hibs keeper.......i could have scored it.

It may be too early to press the panic button but we really do need to sort ourselves out up front.
Dimairt
I was working tonight, so not at the game but my son was there and he said much the same thing: lots of possession, several clear chances, yet lost to a sucker punch from which we couldn't recover.
Our next three games are against, ICT, Cel'ic and Aberdeen - don't see many points from that.
Still optimistic though.

Durachdan,

Eddy
Dimairt
I read this as 7,500 and thought, that's nice. Then I saw it as 75,000 and thought, great. Then I put my glasses on .............................

I assume the team will be staying over?

I'm off to the J.D. stadium on Saturday. Altrincham (4th) vs Brackley town. (3rd).

My other half, the Lovely Maggie, knows even less than I do about football but she says, "Why aren't the games on at the same time each week? If I was going shopping and Buchanan Galleries kept changing their opening times...."
That aside, we have three very tough matches ahead - ICT, Cel'ic and Aberdeen, a Monday night at 7.45! I can't see us getting anything from them and can only hope that the teams below us, St. Mirren and Hearts, fare no better.
I hope I'm being realistic rather than pessimistic.

Eddy
