Good result for us. Listening to the radio, I felt that we would win, even when they scored, as the commentary suggested that it had come against the run of play.

Reason i ask is,i have been really impressed by the team as a whole; technically
i think they are as strong as any of the top 5 teams. Thistle can only improve.
If we beat Aberdeen a week on Saturday. I don't see why not.

Whoa PF, lets not get to far ahead of ourselves, nothing wrong with being optimistic but lets keep our feet on the ground, if we're still doing well after Xmas and the New Year then maybe we could start to think about looking out the passports..
Purplefan
I'm Just really excited about the way we played against St. mirren; we played really well.
I still think it is reasonable to conclude the jags will finish top 5.
Nothing in the transfer news though.
JAGZ1876
We're all excited PF, but lets take it one game at a time, let's leave the crowing and posturing to the ugly sisters fans, as Thistle fans we have to show the world the acceptable face of Glasgow football fans laugh.gif

Come on the jolly old Jags thumbup.gif
Purplefan
A week on saturday i was meant to be at Altrincham vs Oxford city.
I'm going to firhill for thrills against Aberdeen.

UP the jags.

No better place to be. If you can get sky on demand theres a big game revisited programme on that has highlights of Morton v thistle from 1979 i was at that game so it brought back memories.
Purplefan
was that the mid week game we got hammerd 5-1 i think?
irrie
It was a Sat. game and most games were off because of freezing weather. Colin Mcadam and Bobby Houston scored the jags goals in a 2=2 draw..
Purplefan
I remember that game Bertie auld having fits in the dug out.
did you know that Bobby Houston is a Jehovahs witness?
He chapped my door one Tuesday after noon in possil.
Think he now lives in East kilbride.

Didnt know that. Each to his own eh. Remember i thought he had put us in the cup final when he had the ball in the net against Rangers but was given offside.
Purplefan
At hampden park.
No way was that off side. Bloody blue nose ref. angry.gif

That was a great thistle team. Two semi final and an unbeaten run of 9 games in the SPL.
Top of the league. Even beat Rangers 2-1 at ibrox. Awesome team.

If you want to go to heaven when you die
You must wear a Thistle scarf and Thistle tie
You must wear a Thistle bonnet
With **** the old firm on it
If you want to go to heaven when you die.

Right irrie, Eddy, Andypisces, your on the mic next.

Best of order now............One singer one song.

very sloppy 2-0 win jagz.
Our top scorer Damien reeves. 5 wins out of 6 with 1 draw.
Top of the league.
Good crowd from Altrincham about 1,000 fans made the trip.

Looking forward to seeing the jags next week.
Dimairt
Hope you enjoy the Aberdeen game PF. I'm away in sunny Milton Keynes for an OU training day so will miss it; my son will text updates throughout.
Don't see any reason to be anxious about the Dons given the way we've been playing, especially at home.
'Mon the Jags!

Any away win is good, unless you were expecting to give them a hammering.

Good away support, how far away was the match?
Purplefan
Sitting in a coffee shop in the byres road.
waiting for 3pm.
Think it will be a 1-1 draw.
JAGZ1876
Due to car trouble i couldn't make it to the game today, and as we're down 0-2 at half time maybe i've dogged a bullet.

Hopefully Archie will sort them out at half time.
JAGZ1876
Partick Th 0 V 3 Aberdeen, Not having been at the game it's hard to know where we went wrong, reading between the lines in the clubs website commentary it looks like Aberdeen were too strong for us, perhaps you can fill us in PF.

Come to think of it, your a Jonah tongue.gif Now you may understand why i disagreed with your European place prediction.
irrie
Hopefully this is just a reality check and not a sign of things to come. Important to bounce back quickly.
Purplefan
I think it was a reality check. We made a few errors and Aberdeen were the
better team, There was no way we were going to win this one.
Right from the kick off Aberdeen Took control and we just could not cope.
Some of the Thistle fans said" there were a few changes since the St, mirren game"
perhaps that was what the problem was? Too many changes can affect the way you play.
Plus a Thistle player made his league debut yeaterday. Number 13. piccolo?
Was ok.
On the plus side. I still think Thiste to be a good side and held out well under some pressure.
It was just Aberdeen were too good.
JAGZ1876
No doubt about it, we got our arse's kicked, but luckily we have Killie at home next week so we have a good chance to get back to winning way's.
Dimairt
Just watched the highlights on BBC. All three goals were avoidable with Aberdeen muscling us out of the way, especially on the third.
I still think we'll be ok and will be at the Killie game on Saturday.
'Mon the Jags.

For those who are interested in PROPER football. Highlights from alty TV.
Altrincham vs oxford city. we dropped two points.
FA cup 2nd round Qualifying draw has Altrincham away at local rivals Trafford.

Up the alty!

P.S.
Love the away fans at this match. All 6.
These guys should be in the southern league.

JAGZ1876
Enjoyable ten minutes watching the game PF, a good standard of football, never a penalty though, what was the crowd?

I saw what you mean't about the Oxford fans, their player were booing the six fans at one stage laugh.gif that's what i miss at grounds now, being able to walk round behind the other goal at half time.
Purplefan
There is only really two grounds that is segregated.
Boston united and Gloucester city and thats only cause Gloucester have to share a
league ground with cheltenham.
There are some tidy little grounds in the skrill north.

colwyn bay is my favourite. Frank sinclair (old chelsea player) is their manager.
The ground is next to a farm and you can hear all the cows mooing. laugh.gif

And we sing Frank sinclair has a farm e-i, e-i, e-i, o.
Purplefan
my replica thistle kit came today and it is a bit tight.
3xl slim fit, it says on the label.
How the hell can you have a slim fit 3XL? wink.gif
JAGZ1876
Lay off the pies for a couple of months PF............I'll look after them for you if you like laugh.gif

Was it the home kit you bought?
Purplefan
Yes; i am going to wear it on saturday, when i'm at North ferriby.
There having a charity day and they want people to come in as many replica kits as possible
from different teams.
I might stand out in the crowd.
andypisces
well flights booked. will be athe st johnstone game in pert and the hibs game at firhill. Two good games to win.
Purplefan
well lets hope our defence improves by then Andy.

The first goal zola scored was shockingly bad defending. 5 players in the box,
and not one picked up zola.
I think were defending too deep.

Andy even Rangers could beat those two teams. wink.gif
Purplefan
kilmarnock predictions?
wonder if the manager will make a few changes for tomorrow?

Do any of you know if there is some sort of Text service i can follow to keep up with the game?
I have given up on the BBC.

Safe to say that Piccolo won't start whether Balatoni is back or not, the boy had a shocker against Aberdeen.

Why don't you follow the game on the clubs website commentary, or if you can avoid the score altogether then watch the full game on BBC Alba on Saturday night at 20.25.

C'mon the Jags thumbup.gif
Purplefan
I only have a mobile phone when i'm away at Altrincham games and the
BBC is so unreliable for results.
can't listen to commentary.
I'm really looking forward to wearing my new jags kit at North Ferriby tomorrow.
Our supporters bus leaves at 10:30am. we gat back about 8 or 9ish. Love away matches.
irrie
Enjoy the day tomorrow PF. Important for the Jags to win after last week. Need to get that result out of the system quickly.
JAGZ1876
Defiantly a game we should be taking the three points from irrie, but the defence will need to tighten up.

Who are you playing tomorrow and how far away is it PF?
Purplefan
North Ferriby united. They play near Hull.
Our manager lives across from their ground. laugh.gif
It is 101 miles from our ground.
I do like a good away trip.

I assume these are semi pro teams PF?
Purplefan
yes they are semi pro.
missed the entire First half of the match because of a motorway pile up.
Did not get ther till 4pm. And they charged us full price and we lost. 2-1.
I went for a piss and missed our goal. laugh.gif
I'm off to bed.
it was not a nice day.

How did the jags play? I know they drew 1-1
irrie
Not a good day then PF. Sameold story with the Jags. On top for most of the game but not taking chances. 4 league games at home 2 goals both penalties . Not really good enough is it.?.
Purplefan
No, not a good day. I shall look forward to seeing the highlings on the bbc.i player of the jags match.
I think though to be fair, i'm quite happy where the jags are in the league.
6th with 2 wins and 3 draws. could be worse.
Dimairt
That was like are-run of the Hearts game with us on top in terms of possession and chances but with only one goal to show for it. Then they scored, and who else would it be but the "fat, baldy bastard," as he was referred to throughout the game. Well the FBB showed us just why he's a top centre-forward, didn't he?
I was disappointed at the way we responded to their goal: passes went astray, tackles were missed, defense became desperate - our game went to pot and it took a while to regain the upper hand.
Thought Doolan had a great game, especially in the first half, creating chances for himself and others and obviously troubling their rather poor defense - was it five or six yellow cards?
Still, a point gained as Hearts and St Mirren lose is fine by me.

Durachdan,

Eddy

PS - I hope that the Killie fan who was arrested was the idiot who let off the smoke bomb.

We need you to go back to last seasons lucky charm of you telling us we're not scoring enough goals before games.

I didn't make it to the game yesterday but it looks like we're going to have to start taking our chance's, we could get away with it in the first division but we will suffer if we don't start scoring more goals.

C'mon the Jags thumbup.gif
Purplefan
Justwatched it on sportscene. Not a bad performance.
I felt our defence (again) was to blame. Fox saved us a point.
Dimairt
I think tonight's match will be an open contest between two similar sides - hardly surprising given Mr.McNamara's role in shaping both.
Hoping for goals from open play but will accept soft penalties, dodgy off-sides and own goals -C'mon the Jags.

Durachdan,

Eddy
JAGZ1876
We can win this tonight, but it may take extra time.

C'mon the only Glasgow team left in the cup......C'mon the Jags thumbup.gif
Purplefan
we lost 4-1.
Poor show apparently.
