Quite right, Heather. To prove it, here I am with my 34 classmates in primary VI or VII, and that was in a "posh" school.Click to view attachment
Heather
Bill, c'mon own up, which boy are you. wink.gif

I was looking at a School picture taken about 1950 and one of my sister's and a cousin were in the same class, and there were 38 girls in total.

bilbo.s
This was in 1952 or 1953 and I am the good-looking one in the middle of the top row. biggrin.gif

I am not long back from an organised walk called The Clutha Walk
Started from the Clutha, Clyde st and ended today, because of the rain, at the Ramshorn Church
I have been to all the places but being told of the history attached to the buildings, made it more interesting
The walk was for the Clutha Charity Appeal

Now I am in for the day biggrin.gif

Heather, I have just checked my class photos from
the 1950s, 42 in the photo and there were two off that day

From the ones I have been able to contact or get news of they ended up as a teacher, Architect, Mining Engineer, Librarian in The Mitchell, local goverment, Minister after being an Electrician for many years Social Workers and some of us went into trades
Alas out of the 44 many of the class have vanished
Bye for now, norrie
Heather
Aye Bill, the boy with the smug look on his face. wink.gif laugh.gif

Well done Norrie, you deserve a medal for walking in this weather.
It has been raining and the wind blowing non-stop all day.

I do not have a clue happened to my School class friends, with me living so far from the Town in Barlanark, moving there in 1953 when the Bar'l was just being built.

Hi Bilbo.s, thats a cracking school photo, looks a posh school all uniformed, not like my primary or secondary schools biggrin.gif

Bye for now, norrie
bilbo.s
Thanks, Norrie. It was a bit posher than Shettleston Public School, which I left at 9 years old. Having said that, there were just as many hooligans. Money does not make manners !

Glad you're enjoying your hols, Joop. A bit worried about your overdosing on bloody orangeade. Everything in moderation !
norrie123
Hi Jupiter, well if your trying to make us envious about you being in the sun, well it wont work biggrin.gif

Enjoy your holiday, how long will you be there?

All the best for the coming Christmas and New Year season

Bye for now, norrie

norrie123
I have been in Town taking photos, whats going up and whats coming down
The Goldbergs site is now a pile of rubble, also got access in an office block to take overhead shots of The Odeon site, pity the windows had rain drops on them
The new Glasgow School of Art, is getting closer to being finished, few months yet

Keeps me out of harms way, taking photos biggrin.gif

Bye for now, Norrie
Heather
Angel, not long to go now for the new kitchen. Soon you will be dancing on it. laugh.gif

Norrie, if we came to Secondary School not wearing the School Uniform, we either got the belt or 100 Lines,' I must wear my Uniform'. ohmy.gif

You picked a cold wet day to go out with the camera, but knowing how clever you are with a camera, no doubt the picture's will turn out just grand.

Heather
I went into Town today to finish my Christmas Shopping, but I did not get what I was looking for.
I was up Sauchiehall Street and it was very busy.

The only Christmas Decorations I saw there were tiny light through the tree's. It will probably look nice enough when it gets dark later on in the afternoon.
No where did I see any Happy Christmas signs. sad.gif

Our g'son brought our Christmas Decorations down from the loft and I have the tree up, but not yet decorated, I will do that tomorrow.
I checked the tree lights and they are all working. smile.gif

Off tomorrow on a wee jaunt to Granada. Seeing the specialist on Friday about my swollen ankles / legs. Decided to make a trip of it and spend the night there to save rising at an unearthly hour. Granada will be nice and Christmassy.
norrie123
Hi bilbo.s, enjoy your trip, hope you get good results on Friday

Bye for now, norrie
bilbo.s
Thanks, Norrie, but this might be the first trip of many. The cardiologist got shot of me after one visit, as heart is OK: smile.gif
Heather
Good luck Bill.

My sitting room is like a tip as I have been wrapping up the g'childrens Christmas Presents.

One of the spare bedrooms is no better, it is full of boxes of Christmas Decorations.

I now have the tree all decorated and some decorations up, but the lights on my Merry Christmas, that I usually put at the window, are not working. sad.gif
norrie123
Hi heather, hope you have plenty of spare bulbs biggrin.gif I am sure its happened to all of us

Bye for now, norrie
Heather
Norrie we do have a lot of spare bulbs, but I will leave it to the man of the house to check them out.
Well he left me to put the decorations up. So there. laugh.gif

I was out just after 9'0'clock this morning and did not get home until about 3'30pm. It was bitter cold but I did get the last of my Christmas Presents and on the way home I went to Morrisons and did all the grocery shopping.

I was in St. Enoch Shopping Centre and there was a group on teenagers belting out Christmas songs including Jingle Bells and a Teacher was playing the piano.
I don't know what School they were from, but they cheered the place up. smile.gif

Just back from my wee trip to Granada. More praise for the health service here. After getting an appointment with the specialist within 3 days, I arrived 1 hour early and was seen 2 minutes later! Nothing serious found, I am relieved to say.
Betsy2009
That's good news, bilbo. Now you can really enjoy Christmas.
Heather
That is good news Bill. Now you can enjoy Christmas.

I had a 10-30 Appointment at the Royal on Tuesday.
I got there at 10'0'clock, I was called five minute's later and left the Hospital at 10-30.
It sometimes pays to be early.

I am having a wee rest now. After doing the housework and wrapping up more Christmas Presents.
Only another half dozen to wrap.
norrie123
Hi Bilbo,s good news on both counts
Being early in UK has paid off for me but not that early biggrin.gif

Bye for now, norrie

here in the southern part of Ontario we have had a major ice storm
My own driveway is completely covererd in ice also the front paths ,
stairs back and front . huge limbs have fallen off the large tree
because of the weight of the ice . and one of these limbs has landed
on the front of the driveway and partially on to the road .
I hope that all of this ice melts soon , then I can get out and haul that
limb at least back on to the driveway .
Meanwhile , as I am a prisoner in my house , I will go make a pot
of Beef Barley soup . sad.gif
but thank goodness we still have hydro power , not like the
thousands of folks in other parts of Ontario .
Heather
Jings Angel, you really are snowed in. I hope the weather clears up for you very soon.

At least your soup will warm you up.

I made a big pot of minestrone, just the food for this weather.

It's cold, wet and windy here, but no snow.

Heather
Well that's all the Christmas Presents wrapped and the Decorations up, and poor me is worn out. sad.gif
Just the Crib to go up tomorrow night.

The weather is still wet, cold and windy and according to the Weather Forecast, it will get worse over Christmas. ohmy.gif

hello Wits. nice to see your post , and that you are still surviving , I do hope that apartment of your's is nice and warm .
Like yourself Wits.we never lost our power , thank goodness but thousand did
and some are still without heat or light , it was probably the worst ice storm since 1998
or is it 89 , I'm not sure !
That huge maple tree in my yard is the scourge of my life , I think it is now time to have it taken
down before it does any serious damage to the house , meanwhile my big strong sons
will be here tomorrow to help clear up the mess , " the city won't do it " if the tree or whatever is on your property , then it is your responsibility .

Well wits , I hope that you had a nice Christmas also I wish you a very good 2014
and see that you get yourself an Air-conditioner for the summer ,
Cheers , All the best biggrin.gif
