Photographs are stunning and capture the unique Glasgow skyline perfectly.
Hope to see them one day in a book perhaps Norre?

I have been having a lazy day watching The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie. and films on TV.

Discovered my brand NEW granddaughter this morning, just before leaving I had an SMS (text) that read "Hi Granda this is Velma please open the gate for me" Velma is our Zimbabwean maid who normally lives on the property Monday to Friday but goes home for the weekend, yesterday being a public holiday she went home.

I now have a multiracial family laugh.gif thumbup.gif

They won thank God so it went peaceful enough.

Working again. 2pm till 10pm.
Dave Grieve
Changing the front brake pads on my car and catching up on the news, this morning there were reports of a Hyena running about the streets in the north of Joburg and now I hear it has been darted by rangers from one of the local game reserves, just as well if any of the local trigger happy cowboys had got there first it would have been A for Away.
Purplefan
maybe the poor bestie wanted to check out the local wild wlife?
Purplefan
Me. I'm off to the football.
Trafford fc VS Altrincham F.A. cup 2nd round Qualifying match.

Hope you all have a good day doing what you want.
Heather
I spent the afternoon shredding old Bills and mail that had to be kept for a while. I had to empty the shredder three times.
Now the folder I keep all that stuff in is a lot lighter.
DavidT
Hanging about the house all day. Made some pasta, listened to the radio, watched a bit of news, yawned.
Purplefan
working. 10am till 2pm

Cursing!

The flat pack chest of drawers I'm trying to build just isn't working. The holes aren't drilled properly so some screws not going in. Ah well, I was warned.

If i was you, i'd leave it till your in a more positive frame of mind.
Or get someone who can do it.
If your a bit flustered then you can make thngs worse.
Betsy2009
You're right, Purple, thanks but I'm just cursing quietly under my breath.
It takes a lot to get me riled.
I did some other bits of it and left the 'wrong' bit so I am making progress.
Now I've had enough so I'm off to get something to eat and a coffee.
Heather
yes.gif I thought the air seemed a bit blue today. ohmy.gif

Having another lazy day, that's what retirement does for you.
Heather
I was in town today and it was very busy with a lot of young people. I think it was the Uni, & College lunch breaks.

I wanted to buy something, I don't know what, but I didn't see anything I fancied.
I did buy a Birthday Card and Anniversary Card for my husband.

He said he did not want anything for his Birthday, so I will give him money to treat himself. smile.gif

Going home !
TeeHeeHee
Enjoy your trip Bill.
Saw you in a good film by Steven Spielberg last night: War Horse. ... So that's how you top up yer Pension? tongue.gif

Today I'm ripping out a carpet and startin' to lay a Laminat floor .... right here in the computer room 4Mx2.5M ... which means I have to move/shuffle a cabinet spare-bed which tried to snap me like a crocodile last time I unscrewed the Fixing screws from the wall.

This, of course, is Mary's idea. We have someone coming from Berlin to stay for a couple of months while he settles into his new Job here and Looks for a flat.
Carpet was fine for me ... but it's a ploy!
After we'd bought the Laminat, Mary had brought a few sample pieces back with her to lay on the living room carpeted floor, 10Mx4M ... just to see what it'd look like rolleyes.gif
Tomorrow is Thursday and German Unification day ... which means me and Bonnie will be gettin' away from it all on our usual Thursday on the mountains: against which my doctor now advises sjnce the CT Pictures showed slipped discs ... Looks like Bonnie will be pullin' a wee cart now laugh.gif

Right all you guys with your technical knowledge, can you tell me how to sort out my IPOD.

When I put it on it keeps playing the same song, it won't move on unless I do it by pressing the forward button. I never touched anything to cause this, so I have no idea how it happened.

My husband can't figure it out either.

... Enjoy your day TeeHeeHee.

I sure did too, thanks to Hasselhof
I picked Bonnie up just before 12 then went to meet an Italian friend, and great cook, who did all the Catering for Mary's birthday as a present and baked my birthday cake. Dolores had invited me to go with her into the Woods to look for edible mushrooms/fungi.
What an education that woman is.
she not only showed me how to find the various fungi but also showed me how to pluck them from the earth, cut the stalks to check if they are worm eaten, tell if they're Young. middle Age or old, showed me how to return the spores to the forest so they'll grow again in a few weeks, which trees certain fungi grow beside and a host of valuable Information if you want to pick Forest fungi ... including the one particular one that will put your mother-in-law away if that's what you want. tongue.gif
Another one which was amazing to watch when cut at the stem, turned light green to blue to black in less time than it took to relate. The most popular in the pan, the Steinpilz, just happens to be found wherever you find Magic mushrooms in the forest ... and there were lots and lots of them - but the Steinpilz had nearly all been taken ... which left me with only the Magic mushrooms but Dolores didn't want them in the same basket as the other.
Each Person should only take a Maximum of 1Kilo of fungi so as not to upset the natural Balance.
They all tasted wonderful when I did them in tjhe frying pan after I came home at 19.30 after being fed at Dolores and Pepino's house and having coffee at Bonnie's place 18 Kilometers away before Setting off back home.
Dolores knew the Latin names for all them including one known as the Nuns Fart ... due to the way it ejects ist spores.
Lots of Pictures too ... and she even found the Super Macro selection on my camera which has deluded me since I got it last Christmas. The forest was behind the village where my mate Kriss lived with his parents when I first met him, Hägelberg, so I was at least aquainted with it but it was all knew ... and exciting ... for Bonnie who barked the whole 4 and a half hours that we were up on the mountain - much to the displeasure of the Folks we met who'd used the national Holiday to go up and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Black Forest ... Aye, tut mir leid Helmut (sorry Jimmy) laugh.gif
Dolores also taught me how to recognise where the wild boar had been snuffling around.
Very good Dolores but I don't see any feet prints (grinz)
Your not looking.
After a few minutes I found slight traces of their prints.
Two days old, no more, said she
OK Tonto thumbup.gif
All in all a very guid and interesting day.
Thanks Dolores.

Thank you Scotsman, I tried that link and got the IPOD sorted out.

We got our Flu Jab this morning
The Health Centre was packed, but we were in and out in minute's.
Purplefan
I visited a warehouse today.

I must get my glasses sorted.
DavidT
THH, your mushroom adventure sounds excellent. I don't know if your lucky to have tasted a nun's fart. These fungi have got some smashing names. A guy I know is good at naming all the vegetation around the forest. I never know if he's taking the pee when he comes out with names like Grannies Beard.
Anyway, sounds like you had a great time. It's good to learn from those in the know smile.gif
Purplefan
well i bught a copy ouf war horse out of HM yesterday; so ill watch it later.
Will print a review tomorrow.
Betsy2009
I'll look forward to that, Purple. I haven't seen it either.
Purplefan
I watched it last night and although the first half hour of the film is pretty boring,
and somehow i kept thinking of Black beauty or the song in Father ted.
My lovely horse.
But as the film steps up, Mr. spielberg give you a good honest story about loyalty and heroism.
It dose tug at the heart strings and the film gose on to explore the horrors of
war and the effects it can have not just in the person who served but the family also.
There is one scene in that film that struck me about the futility of war. And the change of modern warfare.

Some british soldiers on horses are charging German soldiers through enemy ranks with swords,
in what seams to be a victory for the British troups.
Then at the end of the scene, just when you think they have reached the end of the field;
the Germans open up with machine guns and the horses crash into the forest.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKUdxkaDoNo
I think
it is a very good film with Joeys own experiences of the battle field mirrors that
of the men in the trenches.
it brings home the horror and futility of war.
I'd give it an 8 out of 10 and i would watch it in a Huge telly as David T said.
The shots of the battle fields are spectacuar.

Catching up on my emails, been at Fort William, hill walking since Monday

I enjoyed War Horse if thats the right term, it did show the futility of war and the horrors that all who took part, faced
Those of us who were born in the late 30s and after are the lucky generation, who never had to go and fight
Heather
It's been all go in our house this week.

Taking down summer curtains, washing windows and surrounds, then washing blinds. After that was done the winter curtains were put up in the sitting room and one of the bedrooms
I still have two bedrooms to take apart.

The kitchen has all been painted and I washed down the walls in the bathroom as it is fully tiled.

My husband is sitting here totally worn out.
Purplefan
Off to Glasgow for the weekend.
No football angry.gif
Well, we have a friendly against Northwich but not proper football.
Booked into my favourite Hotel for three nights.
Hope you all have a good weekend

A few days ago I went to Morrisons supermarket to order an enlarged canvas print (24"x16") on their self service photo machine. As it turned out the prices on the screen turned out to be about £7 dearer than those quoted on the leaflet. I brought this to the attention of the assistant. She was that apologetic that she told me I'd get the same thing for about half the price at Tesco. It was getting a bit late so I just went home and compared the prices online. It turned out Tesco were about the same price as Morrisons. I put a search into Google for canvas photo prints and I found a brilliant site which was much cheaper and faster than any of the supermarkets. I ordered my print from there. It arrived today only three days after I ordered it. It's a fantastic quality print. I think I'll stick with the specialist online companies for this sort of thing from now on.
