Stratson I would like to get the Laser treatment on my eye's as well. I don't wear glasses all the time, just reading glasses.
The thing that frightens me is hearing about some who got Laser treatment, saying their eye's were worse afterwards. So if you ever get it done be careful and make sure you picked a Registered Doctor.
joycewilson
Good advise Heather.....dont know anyone who has had it done...but as you say the price of glasses it would save you long term too. Maybe one day I will be able to afford it ya never know rolleyes.gif

Kinda got an uptight day today Nev goes in to hospita today for exploratory with cameras and a cant even go with him as a still cannae walk properly.g/daughter taking him in then coming back to look after me and feed me and revive me after physio and is staying overnight with me. Our two daughters going in tonight to see Nev hopefully he will get home tomorrow afternoon and then back to waiting game for results, such is life eh smile.gif
Elma
Will be thinking of both you and Nev, Anne, hope everything goes well, I know it is harder when you can't go with him. Be thankful that your grand-daughter will be with him and able to look after you too.

One of my eyes sees good in the distance, but it's got double vision due to being hit dead on by a small flying rivet head which sheared off. The other sees good in the short range but has a cataract and that for years. Glasses, even sun glasses, were always a great expense for me. They had to be progressive bi-focal and the the right lens had to have prizms in the right position to correct the split vision.
Over the last twenty odd years when I could afford operations the Specialists always said I should wait a while longer, technology is ever changing in this field.
Now, at a time when the technology is really fine-tuned, I've hardly got two pennies to rub together.
The worst part for me is that the right eye is the one I use with my telescopes and so I'm always seeing double stars anyway and have to try to compensate in my "Mind's Eye" which is really not the Eye-deal situation for an amatuer astronomer !!

If I had the bread I'd get the laser treatment done tomorrow...and ten years later again if that was the case.
I buy those cheap little reading specs, 2.5 diopters and about 30 bob a pair because prescription specs for me cost over, wellover, 1000 quid a hit.
Catherine
Don't be too despondant THH......Not everyone is accepted for Laser Treatment, nor does it come with 100% success rates. I believe it costs around 3000 dollars an eye here.
My friend had the procedure about six months ago, was great for a month then one eye started deterioating rapidly.
They recently had to redo her eye, so far so good and her fingers are crossed.

So are mine, she's my hairdresser biggrin.gif

Am a we bit of topic here CATHERINE but when I get back from my hairdresser who has excellent eyesight my girlfriend Mary always finds a wee bit here or there, just this wee bit, and gets the scissors out ...and they might as well be garden shears 'cos sometimes I go back and ask the hairdresser to do me a favour and just tidy up this wee bit here or there.
Mary's the one who needs the Gregory Pecks.

Hi all just having a relaxing day...sorry to hear that stuarty...pick up the phone... x
Heather
Stuarty when I was in that same situation a year after one of my brothers died, I couldn't visit my sis-in-law as they lived in Australia, so I sent her a bouquet of flowers to arrive on my brothers anniversary.

So if you can't visit, then phone your sis-in-law to let her know you are thinking about her. Then you can share your grief with each other.

Tonight I am off to a Retreat with the UCM. We are going to the Verona Fathers in Mount Vernon.
I've been there before and it is a nice place to visit, and the Fathers are very nice to us. smile.gif
stuarty

Hi Stuarty,
nice to see you met a old friend, that always picks yu up a bit I think
You seem to be doing well on the treadmill and the stairs, keep trying practic makes progress they say,

Stuarty just give your S-I-L a phone call,
Say Hi just to let you know I am thinking of you to-day,
and before you know the rest of the conversation will flow easily,

To-day is my Dad's Birthday 24th March always think of him also
he died so young 44 years very suddenly

So hang in there Stuarty one day at a time you seem to be coping a bit better by the sounds of you,
Life is sad some times but for me I always try and tell myself there is always some one worse off,

stratson
My kitchen was flooded from house above's bathroom.
Plumber has been out, I called the private landlord of the property above,as he will have to pay for redecorating of my kitchen, this is the third time in less than a year, (can't go all this hassle.)
So rolleyes.gif today am drying out my kitchen and trying to keep calm, is very difficult.
Heather
Stratson that is awful. Flooded out three times in less than a year!!!!!
No wonder your browned off with it, and of course you are left with all the mopping and cleaning up.

It's all very well getting free decoration, but who needs that hassle three times a year.

Is it bad plumbing, children in the house above, or is it just carelessness???

Stratson come round to the pub and have a drink. Wits has got a load of champagne, so lets have a drink and forget our worries.
Anne1
Sorry to hear your news Stratson thats all you need hen eh, enjoyed our wee chat yesterday, still waiting on babys arrival all signs of labour well gone, so heres hoping , will call you when it happens
stratson
Thank you Heather and Anne for your words of comfort.

It was carelessness, the mother's story is she ran the bath then went on her Computer, and forgot about it,the two small children were running riot as I was in bed watching Jeremy, I then got up to have my coffee also to take medication, when I walked in the kitchen looked like it was raining, a blister on the wall size of a balloon, I burst it and it was like a waterfall.
The plumbing is perfectly alright. ohmy.gif
Your right Heather, who wants or needs redecorated 3 times in less than 1 year.
Will give the Cyber a miss for tonight as Iam gonna watch T.V.

Anne, it was lovely hearing from you as I have missed you so much on the boards.
Hope to hear from you soon. I'd call you if I had the landline number, calling mobiles is too much. Love to all your family . smile.gif
angel
Stratson sorry to hear about your mess from above, did you have a big cleanup,
if so, did that dear neighbour came down stairs to help you out and tear herself away from her puter. sad.gif

I was checking out the high beams on my car the other day and I could,nt get them to stay on, so I took the car to the mechanic, anyway it turned out that the high beams won,t go on unless the car lights are on, which I don,t have to do because they come on automatically and as I was trying these lights out during daylight of course the high beams would not come on, talk about
dumb, uh,,, anyway the man must have known I was,nt to bright so he did,nt charge me for his time or the lesson on car lights. tongue.gif
