Good choice, my dear.
You will be a wee bit further from the But & Ben but we are up that way a lot so if you need anything send me an email and we will pick it up. I really like the beach up there and my grandkids love it too. Keep on posting. smile.gif

Heather
Jakka, it will be nice for you to be near your daughter's. smile.gif

Good luck in your new home.

All the very best Jakka. smile.gif

Today our g'son was showing us his Dissertation he will hand in to Uni tomorrow, all 15,000 word's of it.
I was taken aback as I don't think I could write 1000 word's never mind 15,000. wub.gif
Melody
Good Luck to your grandson Heather. One of my girls is doing a post grad and is half way through her's. It's hard going for them.
Heather
Aye Melody, a student's life is not as easy as some people think.

The g'son could have Graduated last year, but decided to go for an Honour's Degree.
So all going well, he will Graduate with Honour''s this year.

He is doing TV and Radio Production and getting a job at that will be hard.
He has worked as a Camera Man at a few Football Matches and worked in the BBC Studios doing some work there.

He is very down to earth about it all and said if he can't get a job after Graduation, he will ask McDonald's if he can go full time whilst looking for employment in TV and Radio.
He has worked part time in McDonald's since he was at School.

Good luck to your daughter with her Post Grad.

Today I give thanks that I have lived in SA during the time of two Great ladies. The first was Helen Suzman, who for over 20 years was the lone White opposition voice in parliament fighting against Apartheid.
The second and possibly even Greater is our female version of Nelson Mandela.
Thuli Madonsela is her name and she is THE PUBLIC PROTECTOR of SA. for 5 years she has fought to hold the government accountable for its corruption. For 5 years she has been insulted, harassed threatened and ridiculed by Government ministers as they tried to protect each other from her findings.

Yesterday at the Constitutional Court she was vindicated when 11 of the most senior judges ruled in her favour and humiliated the government with its rulling.

Viva Thuli Madonsela Viva

I went to Glasgow Uni when I was 48, graduated MA (hons) when I was 52. All through my course I still had my two kids at home, two dogs to exercise, a four apartment to clean and a husband who at the beginning operated a policy of non cooperation. I couldn't get my head round an essay until I had done the ironing on a Sunday night and used to stay up 'till three in the morning bashing away at the old computer. I always wished I had got the chance when I was 18 and felt envious of students who lived at home, like my daughter, whose Mums made their dinner, washed their clothes and did their ironing.

Heather
Well done Marydee.

You certainly deserved your MA Honour's. thumbup.gif

Heather
I watched a Programme about Elvis a few night's ago.
Today I checked out my old record's and I have four Elvis LP's one of them is Elvis 40 greatest hit's.

I have 40 LP's of different singer's and 50 single's.

A friend said I could make a lot of money selling all my record's especially the one's of Elvis.
I think I will just keep them as I still play a lot of them.

Angel, there is no way I could persuade my Husband to go and view another house.
He is quite determined he does not want to move house.

He does cut the grass, but after spending most of his life in a house with a garden, he still does not know a weed from a flower.

I have always liked gardening since I was a school girl and enjoy planting the bulb's and flower's and looking after them.

Hi heather , I have just been reading your above post again , because , actually this past year,
my sons have been pressuring me to sell my place and move closer to them .
At first I thought , OK , I will move but as time goes on and I Think about my own life
and I do treasure my independence which I believe keeps my mind " solvent " laugh.gif laugh.gif
I have decided like your husband to stay put, much to the disappointment of my son's .

I do realise and appreciate their concern because we do not live nearby each other
and with their life style , it can we quite a while before we visit , but these days
Skype is doing a great job yes.gif , so hopefully . I will live in my own home ,until
I don't know which end is up .

We have had a very uncomfortable summer here in southern Ontario , extremely
hot and dry , " actually drought conditions " so I have now decided to shop in the evening's
it's a bit more comfortable ,
it's also possible that your sister is going through much of the same , thank God
for air-conditioning , although We will have to take out a mortgage
to pay the Hydro bill . sad.gif Cheers .

Heather
Angel, my sister in New Jersey said it is so hot they have the Air Conditioning on in every room in the house.

I see no problem moving nearer to your son's as you will still be independent.
Just make it clear to them you do not want them interfering in your lifestyle.
angel

So far I have had a good productive day ,
I got the stairs painted that lead to the side door
of the house , I'm pleased about that . biggrin.gif
angel

Well heather , today we have another scorcher , factoring in
the humidex reading , it is 43C, but the weather guy says
one more day and the temp. should be back to
normal , I hope " yes.gif and maybe just some rain ,although
we need lots of it .
This has been the hottest driest summer in living memory
and according to the weather channel ,this extreme weather
has been mainly environmental and if this is the case , there will
be lots more of it in future summers . sad.gif
Heather
Angel, could you send some of your good weather to us.

This summer is as bad as last year, rain, rain and more rain. sad.gif

The rain has hardly stopped today.

Actually Heather ,I do not consider it good weather
but if this weather travels in an easterly direction
maybe you might get some of it , but I would not wish
these temps on anybody .26/27C. is good . cool3.gif smile.gif

Cheers Norrie , Happy walkies . biggrin.gif
Heather
This is the second day we have not had any rain, well not so far.

I cut the back and front lawn's and brushed the driveway and the back patio.
Now I am relaxing with a wee cup of tea. smile.gif

Hi Heather, your reply about the Slum Tours reminded me
about the time Andy and I went on a cruise and one of
the ports of call was Venezuela so we booked a day's trip going
to Caracas , and on that trip it was a sight seeing all the shacks
huts , partial roofs on wooden frames where poverty lived ,
on the side of the mountain , " well , it was very hilly"
such squalor and also seeing people sleeping under the fly overs
as we drove into Caracas , a terrible place and I don't think
much has changed since that time and in another town where we
visited the church ,it was dilapidated and the priest outside with
some alter boys holding their bowls in their hands and begging .
we think it's tough in our part of the world , but we don't hold
a candle to the life of the poor in South America . "So much corruption"

Anyway , today the heat wave has broken and we have a fresh
beautiful day with the temp. in the seventies . but I'm feeling
lazy so I'm not doing much . Cheers

Heather
I see you are in here yourself Angel. How sad it that. wink.gif

I almost got blown away when out doing the shopping this morning.

I thought summer last year was bad, but this year this summer is even worse.

A lot of plants in the garden need thinned out, but with the weather it will probably be next year before I get it done.

Thank you Angel. She had dementia for some time and just recently was diagnosed with cancer. In a way I'm glad it was quick as she was in a lot of pain, especially in the last few days. She passed in the Marie Curie Hospice and I cannot praise the staff there highly enough for the care and compassion they gave to my Mum and to us as a family. Mary xxx

Hello Mary

Mary, as someone who lost their mother some years ago in very similar circumstances to that of your
mother, like you I felt my mother passing away was merciful.

I am sure you will have many happy memories of times gone-bye. Time can heal pain, but memories are what keep us going.

My sincere condolences.

I was in Town today and in M & S and I was surprised to see there are Christmas Tree's all around the shop. wub.gif
There are Christmas card's and wrapping paper on sale.

I went up to the top floor to buy new Mattress cover's as we have two new mattress's coming next week one each for the double and single bed.
