Hello!

I know that Bishopbriggs is technically just outside Glasgow but I'm thinking of moving there (with the wife and kids) and would like to know anything and everything about the area.

I need to know things like:

Is it a good area?

Are there good pubs and restaurants?

Is there stuff for kids to do?

Which parts should I avoid when looking for a house?

Are the schools any good?

Is it an easy commute to the city centre?

etc etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Max,
Bishopbriggs is a good place to move to. It`s still within access to Glasgow city centre, there`s a train station, several buses, sports centre, two supermarkets, several small shops, a retail park (B & Q , Homebase, Argos, Halfords, electric & furniture shops)

There are a few schools, personally I think they`re good, but don`t know their stats on teaching scales.

Bishopbriggs Cross has a couple of eating places, Indian restuaraunt & pubs selling food. I`ve ate in most of them, no complaints at all.

A comprehensive look at life in Scotland's 32 Council areas by the Federation of Small Business (FSB) Scotland in its 'Index of Success' report, shows East Dunbartonshire topping the table.

The report compares and contrast quality of life across the country and judges an area's success based on wealth, equality, health, and future potential. It looks at the following four factors:

· Standard of living (income)
· Standard of education (pupil attainment)
· Standard of health (mortality)
· Equality of opportunity (employment)

Councillor Rhondda Geekie, Leader of East Dunbartonshire Council is delighted that the area has performed so well. She said, "In East Dunbartonshire, we have a very active community planning partnership, which means that public sector agencies and the voluntary sector work closely together to provide joined up services in education, health and economic development for local people."

Depute Leader of the Council, Billy Hendry added, "The results of the FSB's research show East Dunbartonshire performing consistently high in all four factors. We are obviously pleased to have come out top of all 32 Councils and we will use the findings of this report to build on success and perform better where there is room for improvement."

For more information on the FSB Scotland report, check out www.fsb.org.uk/scotland
