Like most people the missing flight 370 has caught my attention and the only answer I can come up with is to compare it to the Payne Stuart flight, if you remember his private jet had an oxygen malfunction killing everyone on board and carried on flying until it ran out of fuel, the flaw in my theory though is the Transponder being switched off.
any other theories?

as far as i know the maker of the plane had issued a warning about potential cracks under where the transponder sits.

so in theory if the area cracked the transponder could have fallen out of the plane causing rapid de-pressurisation like in the payne stuart incident.

however the plane had a back up transponder that should have still been working and none of that would have made it vanish off the radar.

Similarities to the Air France plane that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean in 2009, it took the rescuers 5 days to find wreckage, although the Malaysian search is taking longer until the black box flight recorder is found we will never know what happened.

(Reuters) - Military radar data suggests a Malaysia Airlines jetliner missing for nearly a week was deliberately flown hundreds of miles off course, heightening suspicions of foul play among investigators, sources told Reuters on Friday.

A terrible tragedy and gave me a coiple of sleepless nights as my wife was booked to fly Malaysia Airlines from London to Kuala Lumpur on Monday and flew from KL to Sarawak today.

The thought of terrorism is never far away but those numbskulls usually claim responsibility for their murders.

A mystery indeed but pointless speculating until the investigation is complete.

China seem to be bullying Malaysia over the speed of the investigation, which seems unreasonable to me.

Now with the latest admission that it is a high jacking it seems the plane had the range to reach Pakistan

Fifty years ago when I was stationed on Christmas Island in the Pacific I was at the open air cinema with about 200 other servicemen when a large aircraft flew low over us one evening about 2000hrs at maybe 2000 feet. We were amazed as we were hundreds of miles from any air routes and the nearest airfield apart from ours was 1200 miles away in Hawaii! The RAF who were manning our airfield did not have it on radar, no messages were heard from it and it was a complete mystery at the time and no doubt remains so. Who knows where this present one will turn up but it must be awful for the relatives waiting for news. How is it possible for so many radar stations not to pick up a large jet?

I am booked for 2 O/S trips this year, one coming up quite soon. I WAS looking forward to it,but now I am biting my nails.I keep thinking of the families of the 2 older Australian couples who did the holiday of a lifetime to celebrate retirement, and all the relatives of the passengers,I can`t begin to imagine what it`s like to know your nearest and dearest are lost in space.

Been reading the story today about the Scotsman married to the Japanese woman who has been refused entry into the country because he does not earn enough, last week it was a Scots woman married to an American who was refused entry because she does not earn enough!

Surely the 'rules' were not meant to be so rigid that in cases like this common sense does not prevail

Communism is a dead and discredited obnoxious farce. Putin like his mentor Stalin is attempting to revive the rotten corpse on the equally obnoxious credo of patriotism. China where nobody gives a s...it for socialism, except for the ruling multi millionaire class, is likewise unwilling to condemn the revieved soviet union, when it was only doing what was done in the name of communism in Tibet. I.E. the invasion and armed take over of a soverign state. And as for the west and N.A.T.O dont hold your breath waiting for real sanctions; OIL....OIL.... OIL RA.... RA ....RA....

does sound very odd Dave, youd have thought being married to a native was enough.

so are they now calculating your potential earnings before they even let married people in?

as for the missing plane.

i get the feeling some ones hiding the true facts about this.

hijacked but no ransom and no ones claimed responsibility?...not how the terrorism usually works.

rumblings online now about one of the countries involved shot it down and the rest is just a cover up....who knows tho.

No disrespect Dave but I find that a wee bit hard to believe,I'll check with the 11 million or so undocumented.
