Pollydoodle here i think it was burned down and rebuilt/and renamed.

Aye, it was more or less at the corner of Edinburgh Road and Stepps Road, just opposite the Queenslie Industrial Esate. Ah attended Weightwatchers in an upstairs room of the hotel, somewhere around 1970, but ah didnae drink at that time, so ah cannae comment on whit the bar wis like.

When ma sister and her new American hubbie came hame here fur their honeymoon, they booked in at the Stepps Hotel, since it wis only a few minutes walk away frae oor hoose in Cranhill. They lasted 3 days before they checked oot. They wurnae satisfied wi the service at aw.

Aye Benny, I remember the Stepps Hotel well as I passed it every day for years when I worked in the Social Security in Stepps Road.

My dad And My Older Brothers Used The Pub About 1967 To 1972.I do remember the Rangers Supporters Bus Went From There.

No Isobel they are two different place's
Stepps Hotel was in Stepps Road and the Dalriada in Edinburgh Road.

We had some good nights in the Dalriada as well as a nice meal in the 60s/70s.

Am I correct in thinking that the Dalriada or "the dal" as it was known was a Hotel and a venue for a Sunday Swally when the pubs were closed on the Sabbath.

I remember passing it on the bus on the way tae ma Aunties in Easterhoose, ma maw always pointed it oot, it looked so colourful from the ootside!

The Dalriada had six bedrooms and therefore was open on Sundays along with Social Clubs.

The Stepps hotel was close to ruchazie as i recall because my girlfriend in the early 70's was a receptionist there and i seem to remember it being very close to her home which was in ruchazie. It was a big and very busy hotel with a car park underneath and looked on to an industrial estate

The Dalriada was a completely different pub and i believe it was a reo stakis owned venue. I was in it a few times and i recall it being very busy and pretty rough as well

Difference between the two was the Stepps was a hotel with bar facilities while the Dalriada was a bar with sleeping facilities.
Stakis found one of those loopholes they are talking about on the Tax Avoidance topic and used it to get a seven day licence
