Hi,

I am trying to find any details about my Great Grandfather James Welsh who was married to Jeanie Welsh who died in 1904 and left behind 5 children one of them being my Grandfather Alexander. He was brought up in the Govan area of Glasgow but when his mother Jeanie died he with his sister Bella was sent to be looked after in Dumfries. The other three children were left in Glasgow. I had been told that there was a connection to travellers and only just found out that according to his sisters birth certificate she (Jeanie) was born on the Vinegar Hill Show site in 1900.

I have tried everything to trace James Welsh from when his wife died but without success. I am hoping that another branch of our family might be trying to achieve the same and be able to help, just a long shot, but I am sure other family historians will know how frustrating it is when you hit a brick wall.
