QUOTE (GG @ 18th Mar 2012, 12:07pm) *
Contradicitng some 'scare' stories in the media:

Yet another multi national company showing no fear of investing in an independent Scotland, perhaps it's time for the anti independence campaigners to give the names of the companies who have shown a reluctance to invest in Scotland due to the uncertainty of the referendum.

I assume they have a list of companies.... they wouldn't lie to us, would they?

Since when do Unionist parties require truth when bringing down Scotland, they know that they only have to place that mistruth or doubt out there in the media world to be repeated and repeated till somehow it's accepted as truth or fact by the masses. Recently a neighbour of mine remarked about how Scotland couldn't make it, adding there's nothing here to export but shortbread and whisky.

Speaking at the Scottish Conservative Party's spring conference in Troon, veteran Ulster politician Lord Trimble caused a rumpus last night by accusing the SNP of "doing violence to Scots' sense of self-identity".

He claimed that opinion in Northern Ireland was moving away from nationalism. He went on:
QUOTE
"I have no doubt that having won the argument there [NI] we can win the argument here [Scotland] also. To separate that is to do violence to people's own sense of identity, because being British is part of that sense of identity. We want Scotland to stay in the UK and we think Scotland would be better off in Britain."

I think the anti independence campaigners will want to distance themselves from the out of touch Lord, i think he will find British nationalism as strong as it ever was in that province.

More from the Tory conference in Troon: Home Secretary Theresa May was yesterday accused of "rank hypocrisy" after she said independence would leave the rest of the UK open to mass immigration. The claim comes just months after she faced calls for her resignation when she admitted letting hundreds of thousands of people into Britain without them going through proper immigration or customs procedures.

May said:
QUOTE
"It completely defeats the SNP argument that Scotland would fare better with more control over its affairs when they seek to hand over so many serious areas of government elsewhere.

People want to know – and they have the right to know – what handing over those powers will mean. Maybe even joining a single currency.

In the UK we maintain control over our borders. Joining Europe’s borderless Schengen area could open Scotland’s border up to mass immigration.

In the UK we have an opt-out on justice and home affairs matters – almost certainly Scotland would not have an opt-out."

Pete Wishart, SNP home affairs spokesman, responded:
QUOTE
"This is rank hypocrisy from Theresa May, who has made shocking errors by presiding over one of the biggest immigration fiascos of recent history.

When you combine that background with these scaremongering comments,it just goes to show why immigration decisions should be taken in Scotland.

The Tories still don’t understand that every one of their transparent scare stories stokes the support for independence."

She doesn't make a very good case for MORE women MP's, does she?

That woman is clearly short of a full basket

My auntie May had more brain cells in her wee toe.

What Ms May forgets, or perhaps she was unaware of is, that the remaining part of the UK would be in the same position as Scotland, both being successor states.

Our intelligence services would be working together, along with the rest of the free worlds intelligence in the fight against terrorism.

Well the SNP may as well shut up shop because it's been revealed that Fran Healy (of Travis 'fame') is not a fan of Alex Salmond, in fact he thinks he looks a bit dodgy and prefers Jack McConnell and Douglas Alexander because they were nice to him when he met them. Of course he hasn't met Alex Salmond but hey ho lets not split hairs..
Is this the level of 'journalism' now coming from the Daily Record, if so i'm glad i stopped buying it daily years ago, in fact i bought it the other day just for the £5 Aldi voucher, didn't think much of it then either.
