Hello,

I am coming to glasgow again on the 11th of march and as I will be travelling from the north of scotland I will be coming in to Queen Street station. I am going to be going to the SECC and staying at the City Inn hotel so I was wanting direction on how to get to the Central station from Queen Street station so I can catch the train to the SECC. I also wondered if when I arrive in Glasgow at Queen Street if it was possible to stay on the train an it would go onto Central station as my ticket says Queen Street/Central station. thanks for help. I'm really looking forward to my third trip now to Glasgow and seeing Travis again at the SECC biggrin.gif

Thank

Laura

Heya Laura, you don't have to cross over between Queen Street and Central Station if you want to go the the SECC.If you are coming down to Glasgow on the trains from Oban or Ft William they will bring you into Queen Street upper level just go downstairs and take any westbound train to Partick-its just 2 stops Charing Cross and Partick, get off there cross the platform and get an eastbound -lower level train these are the ones that go through Central Station and its just one stop eastbound to the Secc station-the covered walkway takes you right into the Secc. All the local services tickets say Queen St/Central just means your ticket is valid to the city centre and on the west end local lines people change trains at Partick or Hyndland Station. If you need any more info just ask.Cheers

Hi,

Thanks for the info, as I am not really used to the trains in glasgow I'm finding that a little confusing not to mention daunting. I would feel more secure If I knew how to get to central train station on foot just as a back up, I always like to have as many ways of getting round as possible. that and when were shopping etc I would like to head straight to the central station so we can get back to hotel easily. I know if your from somewhere like glasgow then your used to switching trains etc but when you live in a small town about as far north in scotland as you can go you have no choice but to get around on foot a lot.

thanks for your help

Laura

The most direct way I can think of is to come out Queen St. Station into George Square, walk straight down to Argyle St. turn right and walk along Argyle Street until you come to the Central Station entrance. This is a small entrance so be careful you do not miss it.
The main entrance is in Gordon St.
Ask anyone for directions if you get stuck. It is only about 10 mins, walk from Queen St.

Enjoy your visit.

Cheers

Laura,no problems if the trains confuse ya but its still the easiest way to get there. You can follow Heathers instructions but be careful you don't get lost trying to find the trains at Central lower-its a bit confusing.Hope you enjoy Travis,my bro is going to the gig on the 12th but I don't rate them much .Liked them when they first came out but I just don't like Memories at all ,its really mournful stuff but their latest single Love will come through is about the best track on it.I thought you might be Lil Laura from Travisonline-but she is from East Kilbride-so it can't be you :have a kewl night and don't be up dancing on the stage-just kiddin.

I was gonna ask ,will you come back on after the gig and tell me how you got on in Glasgow and how you rated Travis.I have a couple of German mates and they love Travis in Germany" der schottischen Band TRAVIS." I was gonna say the Germans don't really rock much but thats being a bit rude cos you must luv em or you would not be coming to Glasgow to see them. They did the Carling in Glasgow last autumn-its a lot cheaper to see bands perform there. The Black Eyed Peas were on there two weeks ago massive sell out...more like my stuff laugh.gif

Thanks everyone for the info,
I'm sure I will find my way fine I just panic about this things. well I do love travis, this is my third travis concert, the first time I saw them was at barrowlands. there even worth the 9 hour train journey, this is the first time I am hearing them perform memories which is more down beat but I still like a lot of the songs, have to say cant wait to hear sing and why does it always rain on me again. I like the black eyed peas, keep meaning to pick up there cd. I will be back in glasgow again for another concert in October for Sarah McLachlan in the royal concert hall, front row which is gonna be great. The next gig I'd love to go to has to be the Darkness but I will have to wait a while probably.

once again thanks everyone for the help, I always know I will get friendly advice here.

thanks biggrin.gif
