Hi guys. Just in case anyones interested the Evening Times is doing a "Thanks for the Memories" local history display in Possil Library on 21st March between 10.30-12.30. Its not just about Possilpark but takes in Milton and Sprinburn too. Think I'll pop in for a look.

Does anybody know when wester common flats were built and where does the name wester common derive from was it some quarry before life as the "flats"

Hi SARACENlad, don,t know where the name came from but I remember it being a quarry. That was in the 50,s so the flats must have been built early 60,s. My brother and family were some of the first residents and that was around 1965. cheers Margie.

it was the old coup there was two ash football pitches and some plots there until about 1963 when I left and it looked into firhill

Hi Margie, it is a while since I have been on and a belated thanks for 60th Birthday. GREETINGS .The Quarry was actually owned by the Forth and Clyde Canal, and it use was CLAY, at the top of the Quarry was a hill called MISERS HILL from which you couls watch one half of the football match when THISTLE where playinf
