I hope this is correct. I've only 'posted' once before. I left Glasgow when I was 19, but I went to just about every dance hall and disco in Gllasgow between 1964 and 1970. I followed the Beatstalkers and I also remember The Pathfinders and Chris McLure and the Fireflies. My pal and I went to The Cooper Institute, The Barrowland, The Dennistoun Palais, The Flam, The Elizabethan, The Maryland, The Albert ( downstairs, was renamed Joanna's) The Bagatelle, The Lindella, Bobby Jones in Ayr, Magoos in Edinburgh. I met my husband hitchhiking to Edinburgh to see The Beatstalkers. Great days, great memories.

QUOTE (Cameron @ 9th Mar 2004, 06:52 PM)
Hi Andy great stuff about the dance halls,I liked the Plaza with the fountain in the middle of the floor.Glasgow halls were great to learn as you got older, you started at the Barowland and endedat the Berkley or the Albert

Went to Barrowland and Locarno a few times, but the one I went to most back in 1954/9.was the Pollockshaws Borough Hall on Pollockshaws Road.Anyone out there go there?

Barrowland was my favourite dance hall, although i also went to the locarno, and the palais..different halls for different ages.
I used to love the locarno,at lunch times, for the record session.
I was an apprentice,at stow college, and nearly got the sack more than once for coming back late to class.

the plumbers and the joiners, from Stow across the road, used to go there too,so there wis stacksa talent.Great times.great memories..cheers magsos.
