What was the name of the street where Premierland boxing club in Bridgeton was situated.

This would be in the 1920's and 1930's I believe.

I think premierland was located in Summer St which was next to the Olympia Cinema. As David said if you visit www.glesga.ukpals.com which is a Glasgow website dedicated to Bridgeton and ask the question there, I am sure you will get the whole history of the club.

You could also try the Benny Lynch website, a number of people who were connected to boxing in the late 20's and 30's have signed the guest book, and would likely have further info. for you

i am almost certain premierland boxing club was in broad st. bridgeton. if you go to the peoples palace in glasgow green they had an exhibit on old glasgow boxers with a pair of elkie clark's gloves and a programme for the premierland along with other memorabilia. if you are unsuccessful there, give me some time to go explore my dads attic to find the programme we have as my grandfather and his brother both boxed there. also if i can work out how to use this computer properly i will attempt to show it to you. smile.gif

Tommy Gilmours boxing club was in Olympia street. I was in the building on a few occassions in the early 50s.. Cassius Clay also visited the place ..
