I had a look at Wiki to see the earliiest image of Christ and would you believe it there is an image circa 235 in a Syrian city name Healing of the Paralytic.

Did the Syrians copy their image from a sketch by one of mates 200 years earlier?

The picture's I have seen and have in my home, show Jesus with dark hair and dark eyes.

Keep yer hair on jamcat. Who's griping? I made a comment thats all. If I made a 'gripe' post about all the repeats I've seen on here I'd never get time to post anything. Save your 10p's for the collection.

That's probably an update from the Renaissance pictures Heather, images are images, nothing more. The Nazis portrayed the Christ as an fair skinned Aryan and proved historically that he was Amharic, actualy a semetic language still spoken today. Christ being the son of an orthodox family would have been happier with Hebrew in spite of what the anti semite Mel Gibson had to say.

Awe Rab ah'm no in a bad mood aboot your comment jist sumhwhat upset aboot it, there is a difference between a bad mood and being upset. I like most people would try to avoid posting things that are already there but the only way we could guarentee this would be to avoid posting anything at all and that would make the site totally pointless. So please try and bear that in mind before making such a comment as i promise you i had no idea that someone had posted it and come to think of it even if it is already on the site i'll bet there are plenty who seen my post saw the thing for the first time.

Oh I can't keep my hair on as I am bald laugh.gif

In my local church there is a famous carving of the 'Last Supper' which was made about a hundred years ago by the local Postmaster Frank Rosier who was also a woodcarver . It is probably unique as the figure of Christ is depicted with no facial features at all. The carver stated that 'no-one should attempt to depict the devine'. I think Frank had something that many others lacked!
