Although it has been perhaps long awaited, it still came as a very sad moment to read this morning that one of boxing's greatest, in fact The Greatest as he came to be known, has passed away.

It's very sad THH, Ali was fabulous, such a beautiful man. I think his hardest battle was with his illness fought with the greatest bravery and dignity.

He was very brave in so many ways.

When celebrities are a dime a dozen now, Ali stands out as a real icon of his time and a once-in-a-lifetime personality.

GG.

QUOTE (Melody @ 4th Jun 2016, 01:57pm) *
... I think his hardest battle was with his illness fought with the greatest bravery and dignity.

It most certainly was and I know too that his braveness and dignity was and is of great benefit to those who suffer this terrible illness while following his example of couragesly battling on. Ali stood up toe-to-toe against all his opponents inside or outside of the ring, including Parkinson's disease, with equal mental and moral strength.
My old man always waited for some one to come along and shut his (Cassius Clay's) bragging mouth for him but as Ali said It's not bragging if you can back it up
He also said that his hardest fight was against his first wife. I gave up fighting wives after I lost to the first one yes.gif

Interestingly yesterday I mentioned the death of Ali to my daughter and she was saying that she would remember Ali more for his political activism rather than boxing. It just surprised me, different generational memories I suppose. smile.gif
