Masseys, Cochranes, Templetons and Liptons were all part of the Allied Suppliers Group who had branches all over the Glasgow area. Their Head Office was in Anderston but moved to Thornliebank in the 60s. My husband was the Assistant Comptroller/Accountant for them before we moved to Canada.

Massey's in Govan was situated at 33 Burleigh St right across from Brechin's pub and the 'black man's ' statue. I remember before Allied Suppliers came on the scene being visited by the owner accompanied by his son, a tall gangley lad about 18 years of age. The boss who had worked all his life for Massey's in Blackhill got us all in the back shop before they arrived and told us if the son spoke to us we were to call him Mr Colin.... Aye right.
