Anybody have any experience of a child, in this case a nine year old girl abusing her mother mentally and physically to such an extent that last night the mother attempted suicide.

The father wants nothing to do with his daughter and refuses to pay maintenance. The situation has been growing steadily worse over the past five years with the daughter not able to accept the reality that it is her father that wants nothing to do with her. She constantly tells her mother that she is keeping her father away from her. The daughter although only nine is above average height for her age and constantly attacks her mother both physically and mentally.

She is a very manipulative kid and I have seen how she will drive her mother to smack her with her constant jibes and cheek, when that happens she will scream at the top of her lungs "dont hit me".

If she was mine she would be taken away into care. My wife thinks otherwise.

Any other opinions

Any chance the father could write to the daughter telling her that it's not her mother's fault?

If she goes into care it will be proof that her parents don't love/want her so that will probably make things worse.
Has mother told her repeatedly that she is loved very much but she doesn't like that behaviour.
I love you but I don't like that?
Has anyone outside the family had a word?

Betsy everything you have suggested has been tried. The welfare in this country are stretched with a small budget so any 'counseling' is privately paid for.

I know she has been to a child Physiologist for quite a few sessions that the mother has paid for without any improvement.

As a teacher of many levels and many children of varying to no ability, I can
state here that in some cases there is no answer.
