QUOTE (DannyH @ 10th Jul 2017, 11:16pm) I was reading a newspaper report regarding Partick Thistle last week. Right at the very end of the report, it mentioned that the Club was saddened to learn of the death of one of their all-time greats, the "Firhill Flyer", Johnny MacKenzie, who passed away at the age of 91.
He made 396 appearances for the Jags, and played for Scotland nine times. The report also reminded us that the legendary Hungarian, Ferenc Puskas, playing against Scotland in 1954 said he had never before witnessed wing play of such standard, that was shown by Johnny.
Not only did I admire Johny as a player, but I also had the privilege of knowing him as a near neighbour. A very modest quiet person. He even played street football with us!
I will never forget you Johnny.

Read in the Evening Times tonight, a quip regarding that great character and manager of Thistle, John Lambie.
One of his strikers was taken off injured during a game. When told that the player had concussion, John said, "Good. Get him on right away, and tell him he is Pele"!
I wish there were more like him.

QUOTE (JAGZ1876 @ 16th Jul 2017, 04:19pm) What on earth made you think i wasn't so much younger than you Danny?
I thought it was just the elderly that supported the Jags now!
Hope you had happy birthday.
Regards

By the way I didn't realise you are so much younger than me. Less of your cheeky comments on other topics, you young whipper-snapper!
Regards
Danny
