Sad to say, I've never heard of her. A bit like most towns in Spain have a street named after Alexander Fleming but I don't recall any such tribute in UK. I would like to hear differently, if anyone can correct me.

Unbelievable, the news of the naming of the temporary hospital has been politicised by a failed politician who can't put his hatred of all things Scottish on hold while this virus is tackled.

Shame on him and all those who support him.

Fleming will forever be famous for discovering penicilin but it was 2 other scientists during WW2
who were the first to bring it into use as an antibiotic.Fleming had to share the Nobel Prize with
them.

On this we agree 100% . We have the same problem here. It is more important to some people what it is named not what it can achieve.

What is the point of your post? A dismissal of a Scot's achievement? The guy discovered the thing!

Fleming is world famous as the discoverer, he was voted in the top 100 people of the 20th century, I suspect that his Co-Nobel Prize winners are virtually unknown outside their
own countries.

You don't think it will only be 3 weeks Dave do you? It has'nt really started here yet and with our TB and HIV numbers I think we are in for a bad time, hope I'm wrong.
Just checked the flight radar and there is 1 plane in the sky over South Africa at the moment with all the airports closed. This afternoon there were a few freight flights but the skies are empty.

I suppose it depends on what happens in the locations. Video I watched during the week shows Alex going about life as usual it was as if the virus wont affect them and now the ANC have given taxis the go ahead to operate at 70% capacity. You know what that means. instead of cramming 26 inside they will only cram 20.
I see tonight that Durbans three locations have all recorded their first cases.

Not a great socialiser myself Jags but being able to wander along the beach front or even just stop to talk to the neighbours makes a difference.
