General Boards Technical Issues, Renamed topic as now general Options

Does anybody else have the same problem as me, any page I open up on the boards will highlight various words that will open up an information box even when the cursor only passes over it.
Any ideas in how to get rid of this annoying feature.

sounds like you've downloaded something that has an adbot in it mate.

do a virus scan to get rid of it.

also make sure your anti virus has a browser app for it....avast is a good free one.

then make sure you have an adblock extension on your browser.

I can tell you how to do all that if your no sure.

Hi ktv I use ATG anti virus and this updates daily with a scan daily, no joy, I downloaded Malwarebytes anti malware and did a scan, no joy.

I am now getting unasked for banner strips coming up advertising various products as well as the highlighted hyperlinks what do you suggest?

what browser are you using mate?

avg an mwb probably wont find an adbot as its probably installed in your browser toolbar as part of a legit add on.

look through your toolbar extensions and see if theres anything new.

Dave, it might help to clear out your cookies. They get left sometimes when you use some web pages. I know how to do it on my own PC but not sure how to explain the process to you. Perhaps another board user can? It does have the effect of clearing some of your web preferences which may mean having to search for them again.

Result I am running Firefox and went into their toolbar clicked onto add ons and deleted the nasty that was causing me grief not grieve

I'm probably in the wrong place, but I do need advice.

My connecting/loading symbol stops unless I keep the cursor moving.

Only last three days.

Any advice to rectify?

Are the boards going very slowly today or is it just me

I got the Windaes 10 update a couple of days ago so it could be that (or Martin forgetting to put a shullin' in the gas meter )

How is Windows 10, Ash? Have you noticed any other problems? I'm still waiting for it but a bit nervously.

Betsy, Window 10 seems fine except I can't find anything I've no interest in either face recognition or spending my time talking to a computer so it's just business as usual as far as I'm concerned. The download took bit of time, perhaps 40 minutes, but it was up and running thereafter.
