Maryhill Road

Maryhill Road, how far out does it go
As far as Milngavie, I really don’t know
It starts at St, George’s Cross then carries on west
But how far it goes I still haven’t guessed
One day I might walk it as far as it goes
But how far that is god only knows
I’ve travelled as far as Canniesburn Toll
And one day I’ll go on a Reconnaissance patrol
So I’ll know exactly where Maryhill Road goes
If not to Milngavie it must go close

Hi Jamcat, great poem. Maryhill Road ends at Canniesburn Toll, turn to the right and that takes you in to Bearsden and Milguy!

For some people the Maryhill Rd is never-ending
because no matter how far they travel in the world
they take it with them !

Linda if you ever feel inclined follow Maryhill Road beyond Canniesburn Toll where it takes on the mantle of Milngavie Road as it winds north through the eatern side of Bearsden and on into Milngavie itself where it becomes Glasgow Road and then Strathblane Road as it takes its course out into the beautiful countryside and its eventual dip via the hairpin bend into Strathblane, passing the famous Kirkhouse Inn and then the Glengoyne Distillery a few miles further on.The A81 as it is then continues towards the Trossachs turning right before it reaches Aberfoyle, skirting the Lake of Menteith and then onwards to its termination which is in the lovely little town of Callander.
From St Georges Cross in Glasgow to its end in Callandar is 30 miles of very interesting and worthwhile scenery.
