Hello Ashfield

You are absolutely correct. No question about that. I am afraid the word dementia is slowly but surely becoming a part of my life. While I was writing that post I had a clear image of Tony Benn in my mind when he visited my place of work, probably in the 1970’s, and yet, I wrote Tony Blair!

No excuse, but this mistake probably arose because I was also thinking of Tony Blair and the Iraq war at the same time. Too much for the old brain to handle.

I thank you for the way you handled my gaff. You could have made me look as foolish as some others have portrayed me.

Regards

Danny

No problem. Been there, done that got the tee shirt (not to mention the sack cloth and ashes yes.gif )

We all make mistakes so don't worry about it.

As for "You could have made me look as foolish as some others have portrayed me.", you're your own worst enemy Danny. ;)

Hi Jagz

I appreciate the first line of your post, and I genuinely thank you for it.

Danny

Danny, you've got the wrong Tony, it was Tony Benn's son Hilary Benn who has that act named after him.

Hi Jagz

Tony Blair’s son Hillary Blair has now got himself written into British history by having an act of Parliament named after himself. This act prevents the will of the people who voted to leave the EU to be carried out. Parliament is to have the final say.

Please, please don’t tell me a majority of the Scottish electorate voted to stay in the EU. A majority had previously voted to stay in the UK. These are two different issues. Something the SNP ignores.

Danny

I'm not getting into a long drawn arguement with you over politicians being servants of the public, they are there to represent the views and wishes of their constituents and in most cases if they don't represent their wishes then the'll be voted out at the next election as most of the 13 Tory MP's here will soon find out

You are correct, the two referendums were different, but the SNP are standing up for the majority in Scotland who voted to remain.

As for the 2014 referendum it may have escaped your notice but we're still part of the UK, the SNP haven't ignored the result, it was the UK government that has ignored the decision by failing to deliver any promises that were made.
