It all looks fantastic and I wish I could be there just to soak up the atmosphere. Congratulations to all the volunteers who have helped make these games a success. All the best Glasgow.

Glasgow 2014: Closing ceremony marks Games end

The closing ceremony of the 2014 Commonwealth Games is due to get under way at Hampden Park in Glasgow shortly.

Kylie Minogue, Lulu, Deacon Blue and more than 2,000 performers will bring the curtain down on what has been praised as the "best Games ever".

Team England topped the medals table with 174, while Scotland ended up with a record 53.

The theme of the closing show is "All Back To Ours". It will tell the story of a "typical night out in Glasgow".

A crowd of 40,000 people will watch the 90-minute ceremony, with millions more watching on TV.

Artistic director said David Zolkwer said the show would reflect a spontaneous "we don't want this moment to end" feel.

Team Scotland tweeted a picture of their attire for the closing ceremony
He said: "It's going to be an emotional show - a celebration of a job well done, bitter sweet, proud, inclusive, utterly and uniquely Glaswegian but still typically outward looking, generous in spirit and profoundly human. Above all it'll be a great party." ...

Watched the closing ceremony in the pub. People were genuinely impressed at some parts of the show and also very relieved that the rain stayed off. When Auld Lang Syne came on at the end, we all wished each other Happy New Year! rolleyes.gif

Out and about in the town last week we got talking to a young couple from London who were visiting Glasgow for the first time, they said that the people were extraordinary they had never encountered such friendliness and warmth anywhere else on their travels ,both had recently been on a tour of Central America were the people were kind and friendly but the people of Glasgow just blew them away. They asked why the city was so friendly I replied it's the way it's always been.It makes you feel proud that this city our city can have such an effect on people who visit

So nice to see new names posting on the GG as another result of the games.

One of the things I hope people who came here for the first time in their lives, from the rest of the UK and the wider Commonwealth, is that they all to the last of them, got a taste of the generosity and kindness of the collective Glasgow heart.

Look at these wonderful pictures posted by GG and others which illlustrate my point - the wonderful weather which made a lot of these pictures possible, how lucky we did not have our normal summer weather.

Well done Glasgow.

Have any details been released on the ' negotiations ' which led to charges against two Indian officials being dropped.? The media in India is really hammering the inept Glasgow police investigation.

Is it a case of money talks, and the rich walk?

Lack of evidence?

Arrest being racist?

There's even suggestions to sue the polis!

Davie.

I've just seen on the news that the IOA are indeed to sue the Scottish police for defamation of character.

India did the same in a recent cricket test match against England.
