I was born at 70 Leighton Street and we moved to 84 when I was 14. Me and my sister went to Ruchill primary in the 1950s then NKS. My Mum lived in 84 until she died in 1997. I think my paternal grandparents moved into newly built number 70 in the 1920s. Good childhood memories.

I lived at 169 Curzon Street and later at 99 Leighton Street, but that was between about 1956 and the early 70s. Left to go to Linwood, and since then have moved around the country quite a bit! I, too, used to play badminto in the gym hall at Ruchill Primary. The coach was John Stuart - don't know if that would have been about the same time as you, Kaneman. I also went to OLOTA, leaving there about Christmas 1961.

Murn, I remember when I lived in Ruchill Street, I would have given anything for a house up the cottages, now 16 years later here I am, they do say things come to those who wait, absolutely love it up here, so quiet and people take care of their property and gardens, well most do. no vandalism, no gangs hanging about. Had to wait until my house was getting demolished to get one, but worth the wait. My neighbour has been in same house for 42 years, can't imagine being in same house all those years. never had a house I wanted to live in that long before now.
