Jagz, this topic is Replying to the UK Independence Referendum. Okay, there were and still are people like him. What relevance that has to do with the topic is beyond me..

It is you who has been insulting other contributors to this topic and that of The Scottish Independence forum. That is one of the reasons these forums died long ago.

Danny

I'll tell you what relevance it has Danny, it was you that brought up the "If they had been alive, I can assure you the result of the EU referendum would have had a a bigger majority to leave the EU." why you can't remember introducing that generation to this topic is beyond me?

Can you give me any examples of myself "insulting other contributors to this topic and that of The Scottish Independence forum" as i have always been respectful to you.

I'd certainly never ask you if you were the full shilling, or tell you " You are definitely brainwashed".

I normally find when someone throws insults they've lost the argument, i specifically made the point that Alf Garnett was a fictional character, but you can't deny there were (and still is) people like him.

because you have never presented a reasoned case for staying in the EU.

After the shambles over the last three years you still defend the indefensible.

Danny the manufacturing industry was on the wane long before the UK joined the Common Market.

I'm sure i'll be dismissed as a 50's baby who has no life experience.

I've never worked in the manufacturing industry so what do i know? wink.gif

Jagz, I just asked you if you had worked in the manufacturing industry. The point of my question was to start trying to ascertain if you had any concern for the demise of manufacturing in the UK. When you replied you had not worked in manufacturing, I let it go.

So now that you have resurrected the issue, have you any concerns for the demise of manufacturing industries in the UK? I am not questioning your knowledge, just asking for clarification of your attitude towards this demise.

Hi Jagz , I am back. The Commonwealth Games history is a bit complicated, so I will pass on that one just now. Alf Garnett appeared from 1965 to 1975. So you are saying a significant number of adults in th UK were like him? Boy you can come up with some real howlers. What relevance has your post got to the topic under discussion?

Remember Danny, Alf Garrett was of that generation (yes i know he's a fictional character) but he portrayed a lot of that generations views of the Empire, always be an England, we won the war, who do these jolly foreigners think they are? etc etc.

Thankfully the younger generation have a more modern outlook on the world and have no interest in such jingoism.

Jagz for god’s sake grow up. Are you the full shilling? It was satire, mocking the Empire. Where is is your evidence to support your statement that he portrayed a lot of that generations views of the Empire. The Empire had started to disintegrate long before Alf appeared. I must check the date as to when the Empire Games changed to the Commonwealth Games. Hod oan I will be back.

Danny, you are completely correct. I made the mistake of assuming the this was also a discussion board where we tried to get to some measure of mutual understanding through an exchange of views. I understand that you, Carmella and Dykejumper have views of Brexit that are diametrically opposed to mine and that won't change. At least until to all of you see the reality of what's to come, by then it will be too late of course.

I will continue to post on this thread but I will try not to waste either your, Carmellas or Dykejumpers time by responding to your posts.

Ashfield, the feeling is mutual. I have personal reasons for trying to hang on in there and submit a few more posts. It doesn’t matter to me if you don’t respond to this post, because you have never presented a reasoned case for staying in the EU. All we get from you and Jagz is the same old attack, like this latest one of yours, i.e. “At least until to all of you see the reality of what’s to come, by then it will be too late of course”.

So you make a profound statement like that, about people with opposing views to yours, but you walk off the platform without offering any explanation of what is to come. I would welcome a post from you, telling us what is going to happen.
