The sterling efforts of some prominent Scots in staging the very successful Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this year have been recognised in the Queen's Birthday honours list. See link below:

When the Games Came to Glasgow

This film is a unique behind the scenes celebration of Glasgow and Glaswegians coming together to make an unforgettable Commonwealth Games. It encapsulates the greatest moments of the Games through the eyes of the people who helped make it happen, such as the city cleaners who take classes at charm school in a bid to improve the city's welcome. We follow student Ian Henderson trying to get his film into the opening ceremony, boxer Joe Ham, a local boy from the Gorbals, who has his sights set firmly on a medal, the profits and losses of Glickman's sweet shop, Chicco and Ali from the Alishan restaurant playing lawn bowls for Pakistan, Sikh's at Glasgow gurdwara hosting a party for their sporting heroes, Team India, and the hairdressers in the athlete's village providing free body art to the Barbados Rugby Seven. Their personal stories and the Games' historic moments give us a memorable insight into Glasgow and the 20th Commonwealth Games.

Watched a wee programme on BBC last Sunday about the games called "When the games came to Glasgow". I expected the same old rehash of the sporting events but instead got a lovely wee film about some of the poeple involved. I would recommend catching up with it if you can get it on the iplayer.

Nice to see that the furniture from the Games will go to families across Scotland who will appreciate and benefit from it.

Another great outcome of the Games for Glasgow. smile.gif

India did the same in a recent cricket test match against England.

I've just seen on the news that the IOA are indeed to sue the Scottish police for defamation of character.
