''Gordon Reid has kicked off a momentous day for Great Britain at Wimbledon by winning the Men’s Wheelchair Singles.
The 24-year-old defeated reigning Paralympic champion Stefan Olsson of Sweden in straight sets, 6-1 6-4, in front of a packed Court 17 at SW19.
Reid, who becomes the inaugural winner of the competition, adds the triumph to the doubles success he sealed with fellow Brit Alfie Hewitt on Saturday.''

Young Gordon also did himself and us proud, it's been a great week for the best of Scotland.

I had a colleague who was in his late 20s who became disabled as the result of an accident during athletics whilst in the RAF. This resulted in him being paralysed from the waist down, so he has lived in a wheelchair ever since as much of life as he could possibly cram in he did. I remember when he frequently went to Glasgow as it provided excellent facilities for disabled people with strong interests in athletics, tennis etc., so I know how hard he worked.

Well done Gordon we are all proud of you.

Absolutely stunning tennis in Glasgow with the Davis Cup. Yet strangely I learnt from people at the Emirates Stadium today there are no longer public courts in the east and north east of Glasgow.

I recall playing on the blaize (red ash) courts at Tollcross Park in the 1970s. Surely when the swimming pool was built tennis courts should have been provided to replace those dug up. What a missed opportunity. Plus how much fitter the tennis guys are compared to some highly paid football players. The crowd are incredible. Nothing like a football crowd. Mums, dads kids all cheering along the British team.
