My parents used to go as well because our mum loved Lex Mclean.

But the parents always sat in the good seats, only us children had to sit up in the Gods. sad.gif

It reminds me of St. Andrews Hall where our school took us for music appreciation.
We sat in the Gods and always seemed to have boys sitting further up behind us and they would use catapults to throw pellets at the girls.
We woud be sitting there like little ladies listening to the music, then smack, a pellet would hit us on the back of the neck. Nasty boys. mad.gif

Aaaah Lex McLean, a very funny man.

Mary Lee, wife of the late lovable, and
another very funny man, Jack Milroy
(sure Josie, sure Josie, sure,sure,sure)
mentions in her autobioraphy that she
found Lex to be an "odd man".
I'm not sure what Mary really meant by
that, but I'd love to know.
Anyway, he appealed to mine, and hundreds
of others, including your late mum's sense
of humour I note, Heather.

Thanks for reminding me of him.

btw, all these images are great, I love them.
Good on you all, an excellent thread. smile.gif

Maybe I missed any or all of the replies to Post #34.

These are the shops on the north side of Hawthorn Street a bit across and up the road from the Ashfield Club and towards the railway bridge below "The Flats" in Carbisdale and Carron Street. Passed them thousands of times on the #18 or #52 Bus.

(well late coming to this topic)

I also remember the firestation windows that could also have been taken at the Ingram Street location.

Held prisoner in Scotland from 1953. Escaped to England in 1970 then to Homeland Canada in 1980.
