Hi, I lived @113 Burnhouse st (3rd floor) from 1967-1972 ( the old houses and we looked at the picture in fact you would think it was taken from our window). Origonally from 70 Tresta Rd Cadder :from 1954 to1967 when I got married. Won my first swimming race in Maryhill baths. Used to get the wee 24 bus from the baths up to cadder until I started running around on motorbikes.. My brother Ray and his wife Brenda lived @103 burnhouse st 2nd floor Next to big Tam Reily. I used to park my blue Vauxhall Victor right @ the corner of this picture. I also parked my Green Vauxhall Cresta at the same corner. The people of this area were good people. After I was married, we would drink in the Elephant and Bugle. I even remember the big storm (I think January 1968) when we had winds of 120 mph and some of the chimneys fell. Maryhill was ok and there was lots to do. The old police station is gone, the baths are gone but I still love it when I go back on holiday. I watch Chewin the Fat because it reminds me of my place. So much of it is filmed in Maryhill and Cadder.
Regards Duncan in Burlington Canada.

Duncan...small world as we live in Burlington too! (Lots of Scots in Burlington).

My husband grew up on Burnhouse Street. He was born in 69 and moved to Canada in 74 but his father and all his aunts and uncles lived there for many years before. Maybe you knew his family...the Dochertys?

Michael Coggane doesn't ring a bell with me but there was a father and son both called Ronnie Coggane who had a garage in Stratford Street/Shakespeare Street. When they first opened it they didn't have a house and lived in a double decker bus parked at the garage. It was beautiful inside.
That garage was there for years [and they eventually bought a flat]!!

Yep...there was a whole brood of them. Three of the boys moved to Canada and the two sisters stayed in Glasgow. Wonder if it is the same Docherty's your mother knew?

I lived at 24 Burnhouse Street with my grandmother and family between 1952 and 1970 when the building was condemned after the central pillar or the oriel window collapsed.
