Chic Murray returns to stv for Hogmanay line-up
stv will bring in the New Year in style with classic comedy and live Hogmanay celebrations from four locations around the country.
QUOTE
A half-hour special on the late great Chic Murray, entitled Toffee in his Pocket…Chic Murray on stv, will feature rare footage from the man himself as well as contributions from the likes of Andy Cameron, Alex Norton and Dorothy Paul, who show their appreciation for one of Scotland’s best ever comedians.
Murray’s unique surrealist brand of comedy saw him appear in various roles on British television and film, including the 1967 Bond spoof of Casino Royale and as the perplexed headmaster in Gregory’s Girl.
The "Talll Droll", as he was known, was adored by some of comedies finest, including Spike Milligan and Billy Connolly, who describes him as the comedian's comedian.

Chic was a very funny and a clever man wasn't he bilbo.s, I still laugh at his comic acts when I watch them.
benny, you mentioning Jack Milroy in the bookies reminded me that I never knew, until I read his wife Mary's biography, that he was quite hooked on the gee gee's. She mentions the tale of when on a visit to the states he disappered for a good few hours causing great concern. He later nonciantly walks back into their hotel suite without a care in the world. He'd been engrossed betting on the horses all that time.
Great guy and sorely missed.
The only time I ever spotted him was sauntering out of a cafe with a big grin on his face and straight into a taxi on Pollockshaws Rd just round the corner from Nithsdale Drive in the 60's. Mary was left walking behind him. What a guy.
cash.
