Peter capaldi is the 12th Doctor and the third scot to play the roll.
Behind Sylvester McCoy (7th), David Tennant. (10th)
Good luck to him.
I just hope he don't get his last roll he played in the thick of it, mixed up with the doctor.

It was a terrible programme, Purple. Losing the surprise of the regeneration ruined it. What do you think? I tried to avoid it but new it would be all over the media anyway so I gave in and watched it. I think he might be quite good though.

I bet he isn't allowed to use his own Glasgow accent, like David Tennant before him he'll have to soften it up and Anglicize it for delicate Home Counties ears.

Hard to believe he is the same age as William Hartnell (my favourite Doctor) was when he started playing the Doctor, hopefully he will bring a maturity to the show that's been sadly missing.

Oh well, back to the Tardis.

have to agree, i know it was a huge thing but it was the BBC milking it.
best regeneration was when Peter davidson regenerated from Tom Baker.
Hope he will be allowed to keep his accent.

Me too, but people did look older in those days (remember they had all came through six years of hell in WW2), i have a photo of my Mother that was taken in the early 50's when she was in her early 30's but by today's standard looked like she was in her mid 50's.

William Hartnell b 1908 - first played Dr Who 1963.

Peter Capaldi b 1958 - first played Dr Who 2013.

As do i PF, but i know they won't, they refused Dunoon born Sylvester McCoy's request to allow his incarnation of the Doctor to be allowed to wear a tartan scarf giving him the reason "why would a Time Lord wear a tartan scarf old boy?", whereas they had no problem with Peter Davidson portraying his Doctor as a Cricket loving Time Lord who wore a cricket jacket an waxed lyrical about seeing W.G. Grace playing, which begged the question, "Why would a Time Lord have a obsessive fixation on a bat and ball game that only has a limited Worldwide appeal in England and a handful of former colonies?

I think we all know the answer to that.

True Jagz and the grey hair didn't help.
However - we were all a 'bit' younger so he would have seemed old if he'd been in his thirties!!!

Dylon - it's OK you know - the monsters are not always real and the Dr will protect you anyway.

Seriously though, Dylon, what about Star Wars, Star Trek, Blake's Seven, any other of that genre?

Dylan, you didn't answer the question. Why have you never watch Dr Who? Just not your sort of thing? Not even as a kid?
