It's a long time ago but I seem to remember when the circus came to town it was customary for the animals to be paraded along the streets in their cages but I dont ever recall the elephants but I remember the big cats in their cages being hauled by the big lorries, certainly a sight never to be seen again thats for sure !!

On holiday in Arbroath I saw Blilly Smart parading his elephants along the seafront. He preceded them in an open Cadillac wearing a huge cowboy type hat and smoking a big cigar - a real showman! I also saw the parade in the Gorbals. I also grew to dislike circuses and zoos, although they are much better today in breeding rare animals to be returned to their natural habitat and think this is the way to go. thumbup.gif
