Better keep on topic, to date I have only a few days in Kelowna booked. My grandson's partner is graduating from UBC Okanagan at the beginning of June, she is now a fully qualified RN.

Started booking yesterday for Saigon, Hanoi and Hoi An. Sending for our visas today.

When my mother was alive she went every year and sometime twice a year to off season bargain holidays to Europe. She was only on a pension but managed to got some countries that I had never seen.

When I was a wean we spent every Fair holiday on the I.O.M. and I thought it was the greatest place in the world.

If anyone is on the pension, off season rates in Europe are the best way to have a holiday abroad.

I always go off season to Asia because you can get bargain deals in 5* hotels. I never go on tours, but for some people getting on in years this is the best bet.

I will be in Saigon in two weeks time. Then Hanoi, The Bay Hoi An and Da Nang. Not going on a tour. Just spending over 3 weeks for enjoyment. Missed out on Cambodia due to extremely hot weather this time round, but will be going back in six months time to see Angkor Wat and Siem Reap.

My wife decided she would like to go to Cape Town for a holiday. Her idea was to fly there and then fly up to my daughter in Umhlanga Rocks just outside Durban.

What we have decided on is a last drive around the country. A week in Cape Town, ten days with our daughter and the rest of the time stopping overnight at various places. The idea is to not drive more than five hundred kilometers a day, except when that's unavoidable. Just under four thousand kilometers in total.

I cant believe I managed to talk her into it. She's a "are we nearly there yet" kind of passenger.

Good luck with that trip Dave thumbup.gif

I'm going about twice that far, but it all starts with a 15 minute taxi ride to the airport tongue.gif

Goodness Dave. You'll need a holiday after that one which involves no driving at all. Perhaps a weekend in a spa?
