I love the picture with the wee dog and the tennis ball - broadly speaking (that picture aside) I don't like modern art, I much prefer the old stuff and I'm a huge fan of the works of The Glasgow Boys.

My favourite place to visit is Arran, and since I moved to my new house, the same pictures I had in my last one don't seem to look right here, so was thinking the other night of just buying some prints and water colours of Arran, so off to do some online window shopping.

I know there's an artist living and working on Arran but I can't remember her name.

Are you thinking of Avril Paton, Carmella, although she does a lot of Glasgow paintings but has also some others you may like. She is related to my cousins.

Hi Elma.

I wasn't particularly thinking of Avril whose work I am very familiar with.
I particularly love her paintings of Glasgow Tenements - they're fantastic, in fact I was looking at some of her work yesterday. A very fine artist indeed.

She has some nice Arran art in her portfolio as well as some cute looking dolls which I've never seen before.

I moved 2 years ago to my current house which is so different from my last one, so I am in need of some new pieces of art - which I adore, but a bit more limited on what I can best afford, so I intend buying wisely.

While visiting my oldest friends late mothers house I found this picture haning in her hallway. I got such a fright and said to my friend that looks like me (when I was younger)and she said her mother always thought so.
She gave me the print and all of my family seriously thought it was a drawing someone had done of me years ago. I had to explain this was not me but a painting by Augustus Renoir (problably painted in paris around 1872. The painting is part of the burrel collection bu I am not sure if it's on display. It gives me a shiver every time I look at it as it's like looking like a younger version of me.

I must say that this looks like a brilliant sculpture. It's part of a fantastic new redeveloped parkland project near Falkirk called The Helix. I can't wait for it to open next spring.

I'm having trouble with the original link I wanted to put on for this but it's worth searching the web for other images of the art work.

Just saw this yesterday on a post from a cousin on FB. Very impressed and must take a gander when we are next over in Airdrie in March.

I think I have photos of the Heads which I took while up to see the Falkirk Wheel with big Kriss on that TeeHee's Trip ... but I seem to remember that perhaps I had camera Trouble too. I'll check it out over the Weekend. They really were fantastic sculptures ... but the Falkirk Wheel was a work of art on it's own yes.gif
