HUGH HEFNER

09.04.1926 -27.09.2017

Hugh Hefner, changed the world as we (lads ) saw it, from a kitchen table with $8,000 from investors and an idea for a Men's Magazine which sold more than 50,000 first issue copies featuring every young man's dream on the front cover ...

Hefner will be buried in an LA cemetery next to Marilyn Monroe - Playboy's first-ever cover star - in a plot bought in 1992 for $75,000

It's hard to imagine an RAF billet anywhere which didn't have at least a half dozen Playboy Centerfolds adorning it's walls to show us what we were preparing to fight for during the Cold War and the threat of Mutual Atomic Destruction tongue.gif

Of course I only bought it, or nicked it from my comrades in arms, to read the interesting articles; mostly about cars and blues or jazz bands you understand, while I was lying in a nice hot bath after a hard day defending Queen and country unsure.gif
It wasn't all about Glamour Girls either with Hefner ...The girls next door also had a chance with him yes.gif

RIP Hugh Hefner

He was quite a guy, and although surrounded by beauty, from what I believe, it wasn't sleezy stuff even back when he started.

He certainly enjoyed his life, RIP Hugh.

Another character gone from the 20th Century.

That's true in itself Carmella: aspiring actresses and models and a great many reaching "shelf-life expiry date"; if you'll excuse the term tongue.gif well appreciated the exposure afforded by The Hef's magazine and, later, empire.
And there really were very interesting articles ... if we young men ever got that far laugh.gif

We mustn't forget however that he was responsible for pushing for changes in the social thinking and; to an extent, structure of the American Way of Life

QUOTE
Hefner's son, Cooper Hefner, who is also the chief creative officer of Playboy Enterprises, said: 'My father lived an exceptional and impactful life as a media and cultural pioneer and a leading voice behind some of the most significant social and cultural movements of our time in advocating free speech, civil rights and sexual freedom.

Who else but The Hef could have a bunny wabbit named after him? rolleyes.gif

Sylvilagus palustris hefneri, common name Lower Keys marsh rabbit, is an endangered subspecies of marsh rabbit named after Playboy founder Hugh Hefner
