Use imaging software. Batch conversion's usually the term used. You've plenty of choices, from the "industry standard" Adobe Photoshop downwards. Adobe Photoshop was actually birthed for the Mac. There are many others too. I have Jasc Paint Shop Pro, but I find the free IrfanView sufficient for my needs. You will of course have to use imaging software tailored for the Mac, & graphics is the Mac's forte.

Fearn,
Have a look at this web site for Macintosh:
http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/utilities/snapzpro/
I have the original Snapzpro program, but I'm thinking of upgrading to the latest version as described at the above site. It captures any part of your screen, etc. in many formats. I usually scan pictures I have taken and after bringing them up on the screen, I capture each as a JPG for easy transmission to any Mac or PC. You get a free trial with this one before you buy.

Fearn, when you bring the photo up, it tells you at the bottom of page what it is eg; jpeg do the drop down list and change it to gif and away you go. Hope it works for you. Look forward to seeing your photos.

You folks are the greatest!

I've downloaded the SNAPZ PRO2 as suggested, George, and printed out the manual - seems I may need all of those 15 grace days to plough through it! but it looks good.

Anne, interesting thing - I can save your last picture to disk and it comes out as 'index.php' - can even enlarge it to full screen - very fuzzy by then of course.

Bardeau, I've tried out your suggestions and converted one of the pics (a jpg) I was going to post in 'If Women Ruled The World'. It comes out as 'pic06915.bmp (Converted)' It's not the one I would have chosen to start off with but I'm going to try posting it here just for the hell of it .......think I used ACDSee - but ahm no sure, ma heid wis buzzin' !.

Well, message came back - 'bmp' not acceptable -

Bah Humbug! it's back to the drawing board rolleyes.gif sad.gif

ACDsee's a very powerful proggie, but I'm not familiar with it. No, .bmp's are too large. Whichever image proggie you use, when you batch convert, make sure you specify the format you want the file converted to. There should be a dropdown list where you can choose .jpg, .gif, etc. And when you save the converted file, make sure you save it in the new format. Rotsaruck!

How much better can it get?

What format file are you trying to convert now? Can you give a rundown on what's actually happening?
