I wonder if they would have called it a "stunning" victory if New Zealand had won, which they should have, bearing in mind it is now revealed that the 6 runs given in the Ben Stokes debacle should have been FIVE runs, meaning NZ would have won.

We're currently holidaying on the dark side tongue.gif so it was kind of hard to avoid. I enjoy watching cricket and used to follow the test matches when they were shown on the BBC. As you might expect, the media here went into overdrive about the "stunning" victory. We're getting a similar reaction to the netball world cup now rolleyes.gif

Just wondering if anyone was interested enough to watch the World Cup cricket final? I was up all night of course as I knew I would be. Got to bed around 8.00 am, feeling a bit sick (at heart), not so much for losing the game but for the manner the winner was decided.

Like thousands of Kiwis, here and in the UK, it was a hard watch and my nerves were jangling, to say nothing of the thumping heart. Anyone who says cricket is boring must be very hard to please.

So proud of our Kiwi team, sportsmen to the end, despite the huge disappointment. Here's to the next World Cup - if I am still around I will be watching, high BP and all.

All this cheating in cricket is outrageous. I’m still trying to figure out how the West Indies got it to rain in Zimbabwe last week to knock Scotland out of the World Cup

The team backing second should try to ensure they are always marginally ahead on the DL system
just in case of rain.

The Duckworth Lewis system is supposed to be fair but in reality, it often seems to be the opposite! I didn't see the Scotland qualifying game but felt their disappointment. It's just not cricket!

For the life of me, I cannot understand the mentality of the Australians in this latest cricket debacle in South Africa. They have the best players in the world yet feel the need to cheat when the chips are down. They are the world experts in sledging but can't take it from the opposing teams.

I've never rated Steve Smith as a captain. He is probably the top batsman in the world, but as a captain he is not capable (in my opinion). I have no words to describe David Warner but just can't stand the man. All I will say is he is no sportsman.

So pleased I am not an Aussie supporter - they must be cringing at this latest carry-on.

On the positive side, the Black Caps beat England on the final day of the first test yesterday. What a strange game after England were bowled out for 59 in their first innings. Despite two days of heavy rain, I thought England could just about manage a draw but although they rallied in the second innings, NZ stuck with it and won in the end. Well done, New Zealand.
