Does anyone have any information on this? I'd think something would have been in the local papers -

QUOTE
Trials of the QM2 - the world's biggest cruise liner - are to take place off the west coast of Scotland in early November.
Eric Flauders of Cunard, which has built the ship, said: "We are aware of the substantial interest that Scots have in the QM2 and it's fitting they will get the chance to see her during her trials.

"We hope to carry out the Scottish trials during the first week in November. Our preferred location is off Arran, where we tested the original Queen Mary.
"There is lots of historical significance there."

Here's the ship I'm talking about..........

Fearn I mentioned the fact that the QM11 was coming to Arran to do the measured mile within the next few weeks on the Glasgow Apprentice posting. This is not a Clyde built ship and its not really a Cunarder but I so want to see this liner do the measured mile.If and when I have a precise date I will find the time and take the boys out of school and go down to see it.We have a history with Cunard because we have grandparents and great grandparents who worked on the original Queens and simply to see a great liner on the Clyde still makes my heart race

Scotslad - knew I'd seen something about QM2 but couldn't remember where or by whom - if you do any have news re dates of Arran trials perhaps you'll post them in the Apprenticeship thread - I'll check there.......where I should have posted in the first place!

Catherine just let it come naturally. When you talk about things that happened in the past with them they sometimes show an interest and other times its aw "wheres my gameboy".About 5 years ago a huge US ship think it was "Splendour of the Seas" docked in Greenock ,she was massive must have been 20 stories high. She was going down river about 5 on the Sunday afternoon so the four of us went down to Cardwell Bay at the tail of the bank cos my grandad used to take me there and together we had watched the QE11 back in 1969.Disaster,she was late sailing ,they got fractious, one off them fell off a climbing frame and another one fell on a gravel path ,took me an hour to clean out the gravel while he yelled the place down. When she eventually sailed past the two accident cases had cried themselves to sleep and missed it.I just said never again but then you forget the hassle and do it all over again.
