Knew it well as I lived in Oban Drive, the red sandstone tenement flats in the background. I remember going in one night with a couple of mates. We were dressed in the standard jeans and denim shirts and the locals thought we were plain clothes coppers!

The Strathmore has been remodelled and tarted up in recent years and is looking good. It now sells food with a small and reasonably private beer garden to the rear. Think they are trying to cater to a wider group of people, especially from the student village on the other side of the canal.
