Anyone frequent this cafe back around 1959 - 65 when I spent half my life there, as I was besotted with the lovely Silvia Ferri. Her sister was Vira and her brother Rico was in charge while Umberto (Berti) ran the van side. My name is Bill Stewart but back then my nickname was Jess, after Jesse James, I hasten to add.

Anybody remember the Ferri family or know what became of them. Silvia would be 68 now (Oh My God!)
My mates were Ronnie Bailey, Bill McSorley, Iain Robertson, John Hamilton, Forbes Cuthbertson among other worthies.

I lived in Blackcroft Road at the time(awful posh) but spent all my time around Shettleston.

Bittersweet memories indeeed, I also hung out at the State cafe 1960-1962, I remember all those names, in fact Forbes Cuthbert was my bofriend for 2 years until I came back to Canada. You might also remember my cousin Nancy Ferguson. Sure doesn't seem like 46 years ago.
