just finished reading this book on life in the Gorbals before the 2nd WW although a lad from Possil i can still identify with the sentiments written here looking forward to reading the sequel.

He done well for himself.
Didn't he have a another book he wrote afterwards?

This is one of the best books ever to have come out of Glasgow.
I can't believe that it is so little known and appreciated, the background information that can be gleaned about life in the Gorbals and Glasgow at the time is so interesting.

He wrote 3 books I think. They sold well at the time - years ago. The first was the Gorbals and the second about going to Oxford, I think. I have his books kicking around here somewhere I'm sure. He wrote from the heart. smile.gif
