William Wallace is probably the name most associated with Scotland over here, mostly thanks due to Mel Gibson's portrayal of him in "Braveheart"

My big mate Mick puts on a good Scottish accent...for a German...and Quotes, what he calls a line from the film :

"Yeez cin tak wur lives...But yeez cin no tak us seriously"

Although he once presented me with a downloaded script of the film I couldn't find his quote.

But when I showed him the pictures taken at the Robroyston Wallace Memorial he said :

"Aye Tam, yeez cin no tak him seriously."

I now live in Canada, but from Glasgow. I visited in October 07, and coming over again in April. I will visit Robroyston again, and really hope, some one has cleaned the site up, I could not believe the mess it was then, in 07. I WILL, do a bit of cleaning, clearing, when I do visit the site.
Wishing you, All the Best.

Sometimes I think the council alledgedly would pay people to destroy certain things that has listed status for example down here the pub up the road from me was smashed to pieces and they were supposed to save it as part of the history of the area but guess what it has been raised to the ground and 77plus houses have been built am totally disgusted because the area is in a bad bend in the road and many lives have been lost due to carless driving and if they put weans in these flats im getting a feeling of destined for disaster in more than one way or another please save the monument but it seems money is a god to some ruthless athorities in my humble opinion

You may well have hit the nail in the head stuarty,,,,,,,,,,,it really puzzles me, particularly since the film Braveheart" put " William Wallace" into the headlines, not one person doesn't know he is a Scottish hero. rolleyes.gif

... or something like that:, if people are not interested then you have lost the Battle.

Angel you're right.
The saying goes:-
" You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink"

a scouse mate used to end it by saying ".....but a pencil must be lead "

Just been watching a 5 part docu. on " Braveheart" on You tube. absolutely 1st class viewing.
Was watching the big yin then that came up.
At the end the narrator says
" Seven hundred years later Scotland's greatest national hero is still held in the highest esteem, and respected by all (Scotsmen).
I thought then...well, not exactly all ! !

But there are people that are interested and I for one have gone all out in helping with this matter, and it makes me so mad that I can't even get a reply on things I have set up. mad.gif I'm not in good health but still I was willing to give it my all as I very much believe in this cause.

http://www.petitiononline.com/wfw1/

I've not seen any petition for this but there should be one, if GG wants to set it up heres the place.

Ineresting stuff Bonny ,I never would have thought it was that easy to start up a petition.

Just for interest how many sigintures do you think the safe conduct letter will need, as I see less than 2020 people have singed it , come on people start signing . I have signed it and I thin I can only sign once but I will ask people I know to sing it now I see only 2017 have as of right now. sad.gif
