I used to just shout 5 more mins ma it work for about 15 then it was right you lady get yerself up these stairs or you'll know all aboot it ,ye knew yer time was up then laugh.gif

if i was climbing a tree, i was told

"if you break yur neck, dont come runnin tea me" like i could run with a brocken neck???

also i grew up on a busy road and was always told "if you get killed wi they cars, ill bloody kill you when you get in" somehow if that happened i dont think id be coming in :-)

My daily read and I find this thread !

Thank goodness it's recently come back to life because, as I flipped back through the pages, lots of delightful memories of my Glasgow childhood came flooding back.

Mum and my two Grannies used many of the sayings on me and my brother as we grew up (well, as much as you can before leaving Glasgow for Australia as a ten year old in 1960) and Mum continued using them over the next twenty years until she died.

Once again I've found a series of posts on GG to satisfy a thirst for memories of my childhood !

tongue.gif i mind my used to send me to cossars the bakers in saracen st for a quarter of gammon cut thin n half dozen rolls, in to top it aff she wud say il put the tea pot on a wee peep ,, wen she sent me tae peter snacks for a fish supper she used to say tell peter u want a good fish as ur ma.s no well lol those were the days xx rolleyes.gif
