does anybody remember the wee cinema that was on the left hand side in the tenement block before you got to the hospital, you went down stairs, across from the Astoria, my cousin used to take me there

Dear Stillroom
I remember it very well .It was called 'The Magnet'Iit was a a real flea pit. but the easiest cinema in Glasgow to skip into/
The cash desk was about 4 and a half feet from the floor.,so it was easy to crouch down and get underneath it.
From there it was straight into the hall itself then settle down to watch the movie' AH !The good old days

hi stuart here is one you might be in saracen school at about your age

Hey John, I vaguely remember emailing that pic to you a couple of years ago (post #27), it's the one that Jim Watt's sister Jean sent to me. My big brother is on the extreme left in the front row smile.gif

The girl in the second front row (5th from the left - in striped top) is my mum Janet McKay. She lived in Derwent Street Possilpark. What year was this class photo taken? Does anyone have any more photos that my mum might be n?

many thannks

Tricky

Tricky this photo was taken approx 1952, my brother is in it and he would have been about 9, just before he transferred to Miltonbank Primary. smile.gif

John, Are you in the Saracen Primary 1952 photo? I thought you were younger than my brother.

Big Tommy, I remember my dad talking about Willie White. I think he might have been a pal of his. My da was a great snooker player and the boys in the pubs would bet money on him winning. It could have been in pubs in garscube rd.? cheers Margie.
