Isint it a much better sight to see people relaxing on the grass in George Square than the red tarmacadam monstrosity they had a few years ago

For all those who want to be in Glasgow for the Games, but can't.
Two YouTube videos:

One professionally made, of the buildings - looking fine.
One amateur video, of the people - always game.

Wonderful for Glasgow and Scotland. In international events the anthems of South Africa are sung in three languages, Canada as with Wales has two. What happened to the OTHER language spoken in Scotland and where is our own anthem? God save the Queen of England has left me sad after such a joyous opening.

Such a shame Kemedian that not only could I not see the Games on German TV but I can't watch your Videos either because of :- GEMA
The Gesellschaft für musikalische Aufführungs- und mechanische Vervielfältigungsrechte ( Society for musical performing and mechanical reproduction rights;GEMA ) is a state-authorized collecting society and performance rights organization based in Germany.
I was so looking Forward to seeing some Videos but if they contain certain Music then it's a no-go here sad.gif

Some photos from Buchanan Street and George Square on the day of the opening ceremony. A quite fantastic atmosphere in both locations, with huge amounts of people enjoying the sun and the carnival atmosphere.

Photos 1-10.

Open the youtube link, copy it and go to keepvid.com and paste the link into the box, follow the directions and click download then select the best quality video, usually xx.mp4 and download it. Alternatively you could try somewhere like http://anonymouse.org/ to see if that will mask your ip location to youtube. If not do a search for youtube VPN and hopefully that will sort it.
